The expectation is that the 911 GT would come with a manual transmission, so it wouldn't make sense for that to be the GT4 PDK thing that the OP is hinting at.

I expect the press release will be about the race version of the GT4 with PDK and simply called Porsche Cayman GT4.

Matt, thanks for the post. The trip of a lifetime for sure! Please feel free to add any more detail about what else you saw or did around Weissach. And I'm dying to hear how your visit with AP was arranged. Very very cool! ![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)
Anyone think the announcement could be a GT4 Cup with sequential box?

^+1. Matt said "close" when someone guessed cup with PDK, could mean cup with sequential instead.
ps. 3mph, I can't quote you. I think the forum software doesn't escape the ankle bracket in your name which in turn breaks HTML.

News of GT4 Cup was out before Matt posted.. So that wouldn't be a huge surprise. I just want to know what the GT4's status will be as a full production model. (Hopefully limited yearly/bi-yearly production model)

Considering that on average PCNA sells around 3000 Caymans per year, 1200-1500 or so GT4s this year would be a significant increase in sales for car, and represent up to 35% of all Caymans sold. How does that compare with the Cayman R?
991 sales average around 10000 per year for comparison. How many of those are GT3s?

I think it is time for Porsche to look at having a true equal to the 911. I think the business model of having 1 model with 26 variants has played its self out. Porsche finally tested the waters and has seen the light! The C 981 was not selling well because..... it was not up to the level of performance it was truly capable of. If the Cayman becomes a true equal to a 911 ( on a regular basis ) you can also expect to pay the same amount as its 911 counter part.

I wouldn't buy a 991 (engine in wrong place, wide hips), but would buy a GT4 with the GT3 engine, even for the same price as a GT3.
Although the GT3 RS is so over the top, and has a more balanced look with it's wider front fenders, that I'd consider it if my money was acceptable to Porsche.
