Once the Cayman goes to a turbo, the tuner market will go crazy. Big HP gains are much more practical.

My local dealership is taking $1000 fully refundable deposits on the new GT4. I went on Christmas eve and placed 2 deposits for #2 and #3 slots at this particular dealership. Missed out on being #1 by 5 days. So ask around to find one that will take your money.

I can see a Cayman GT4, but I cannot see a Cayman GT4 RS.
Given the timing, the GT4 is the "RS" of the cayman line IMO.

The turbo caymans are just around the corner therefore they only have so much time to push out the last of the normally aspirated cayman/boxsters including the GT4...

Don't put it past PAG to milk the .2's before a current generation is replaced by the next generation.

That makes plenty of sense...

Not necessarily. Keep in mind, the previous engines, models, etc., have continued to be produced in the past despite a newer "generation" or engine being produced.

For example: 997.2 Turbo / Turbo S was produced for over half a year into the 991 C2 / C2S run when the 991 officially started rolling off the line.

I would not be surprised if the 981.2's went all turbo, and the 981.2 Cayman GT4 RS dropped with an N/A engine... The last of the N/A's in a Cayman, essentially.

That is true, there has usually been a transitional period with the old and new being produced alongside.

That's what I'm hoping. I want the RS version, but I guess we have to see the full specs on the GT4. I probably wouldn't dump my GT3 for a GT4, but for a hardcore RS version with buckets, more NA power, manual tranny, and a lot of 991 GT3 parts....tempting.

The GT4 will have available buckets already and imo there is a better chance of Manual gearbox in the GT4 than the RS version (adding PDK-S is one easy way to make the car "faster"). I want Manual too...

I totally agree. With my 818R racer (w/ WRX STI turbo'd boxer 4) sky is the limit with HP. Alot of Tuners and upgrades (without Porsche tax). One tune will be 400 hp for my car (1980 pounds). FUN

Yep, my daily driver and occasional (fast) track car is an EVO IX with stock motor, but tuned for E85 fuel (with bigger injectors and fuel pump) makes a very conservative 425 hp and 435 ft-lbs from 2.0L. But I am much more interested in having one of the last naturally aspirated Flat-6's. No turbo responds or sounds like that. Much more entertaining to drive on the limit with instantaneous throttle response.

dun think an RS is on the cards. the cayman is still the step-child.

That's why we'll get the slower manual and satisfy ourselves with more interaction albeit at less speed. PERFECT. Pls dun spoil it for the rest of us by wishing for a GT4 RS............

get the 991 Gt3 or Gt3 RS and leave us alone if you want to go fast.

In any case dun give up the Gt4 slot for the GT4 RS one.

That would be perfect - hope they don't deny us the pleasure of shifting!
