Is it just me or does the wing need to be 4-6" higher like the 997.2 RS is.
Just looks too low and close to the rear deck lid. Higher wing would also create more downforce no??

It's all how the air flows. Notice the GT4 also has a pronounced ducktail. I'm certain Porsche wind tunnel-tested the wing at various heights. I bigger wing (i.e. more surface area) would create more downforce all other things equal, but then it might unbalance the car since it would need a much larger splitter...

The EVO video states the GT4 has the same downforce as the GT3.
I suspect they had to work VERY hard to get this car under 3,000 lbs. The smaller gas tank must be there for weight savings. One other item I just saw for weight savings is the aluminum hood (same as all Caymans) aluminum doors (only in the Cayman R) and aluminum trunk lid (exclusive to the GT4, I believe).

My understanding is that all 981s in addition to having an aluminum hood, have aluminum doors and an aluminum trunk lid.
What's the deal with the larger gas tank? Can't weigh much more other than "wet weight" when full. Any other down side?

I think you answered your own question! A full tank of gas weighs less if the tank holds less gallons of the liquid and that tank size is standard for your model!

Starting with the 981, Porsche switched to the lighter aluminum in doors and trunk lids (front & back)! So that aspect is not lighter in a GT4 than in a regular Cayman! Aluminum doors were indeed unique to the Cayman R and Boxster Spyder in the older 987 chassis!

Eduardo,
A question for you. The technical paper that Porsche released this week states that the GT4 is ~30mm longer than the other Caymans, which is to be expected given the longer front and rear overhangs provided by the added aero. But it goes on to state that the wheelbase is actually longer. Is that correct?

Yes. It's .4 inches longer...probably due to the specific installation points of the different front & rear suspension pieces! But we will let others will real technical knowledge chime in on what accounts for that 'critical' .4 of an inch difference!

Wow - I assumed the extra length was due to the front splitter, but didn't realize that the suspension changes actually added to the wheelbase. I wonder if there is a chance for confusion on this from Porsche or they really did change the wheelbase? I hope the changes were this dramatic (assuming an improvement)!
I would assume the extra wheelbase length is due to the GT3 suspension upfront.
Just more caster or what? Suspension mounting point hasn't changed has it? And if all the .4" is on the front, that would move the front wheel noticeably forward in the wheel well, possibly even inducing clearance issues with those big 20's.
