Hah that's what I keep telling myself too! If Porsche sends me the marketing material for the GT4 that might put me over the edge.....maybe.

Ok, lets open the betting book regarding PTS.............

Eduardo, you think PTS will be available? Very personal choice of course, but what tune of color will be most popular? Any sort of blue again? Here's a good one: CLUB BLAU???

I'm am guessing like Porsche in the past, the PTS wont be available for the first 6 months. They will throw out the "normal colors" first.

Then they might allow PTS.

Doesn't Porsche usually create a window to manufacture PTS cars? It's typically once a year for a few months from what I remember.

Fortunately we have Eduardo to clarify.

I'm already pushing for PTS on mine. So we'll see.

Brett's as crazy as I am, so I've got a strong pusher pushing, as well.

In the end, I don't ever care to get the first car, or second, etc., just the exact one I want. I'll wait until the very last car built if I have to... just as long as I get one.

Lots of ideas...but I am just wondering how & when PTS will be incorporated into the gt4 production schedule. As you know, they have not accepted new orders for PTS on the 991/981 models for several months now...and insiders are predicting that PTS will re-appear with June production of MY2016 models! All Caymans are built in Osnabrück and that Karmann facility finally got the ability to paint PTS starting with MY2015 Caymans (and some of the Boxsters done there too) last summer! So that is not the problem. But remember that there are many specialized body parts on this gt4 - gt3 type front bumper, outsized side air intakes, new rear bumper and RS type spoiler. And I would not be surprised if they are outsourcing these panels to outside vendors which will assemble & paint them in place and deliver the finished product to Osnabrück in 'Just in Time' and Just in Sequence'! That is where PTS gets real tricky since not all body panels are done at the same time, or in the same paint booth, or with the same batch of paint! And that has apparently created quality control problems at Porsche, which manifested itself in some PTS (and even regular paint) gt3's.

We are hoping to hear from 'Porsche Exclusive' confirmation that PTS will be available on the gt4...but I would not be surprised if PTS is NOT allowed on the initial first year of production so that they are certain quality control issues with paint are perfected. On the bright side, it's very possible that PAG might introduce a unique hue as a 'special color', exclusive for the gt4! Just as there is talk of a 'BloodOrange/Tangerine' or 'Lava Orange' available on the upcoming MY2015 991 gt3 RS, perhaps the gt4 will get its own signature color! Let's keep our fingers crossed on that score!

Thank you for dragging out that old post. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now & then!

In truth I have been crying out in wilderness about the achilles heal (rear suspension) of the Boxster/Cayman for years now. I hope Porsche Motorsports has really done a bit of engineering magic to improve it & make it 'competitive'. And I also presume this advanced rear suspension set-up will be incorporated into ALL face lifted .2 981's due in MY2017 to modernize that entire chassis platform!

Eduardo

My only concern with that is that this might not be a multi-model year car since it's hitting so early on in the MY2016 run. I'll wait until the very end of the MY2016 run if I have to, but I'm not necessarily confident there would be a MY2017 especially with the 981.2's switching over to turbo (just like the 991.2's).

My eyes saw what I wanted to see. I so wanted to see some Acid Green in there; I've got enough cars with GT3 Yellow gauge needles.

^I'm no specialist, but based on previous new Porsche model launch, when they have a unique hue for a new model, we see it right at launch (think Carmine with GTS models). Maybe that blue in the pics is not sapphire blue and its a new blue, but it looks very much sapphire to me. Perhaps we'll see something special in the configurator in the next few days!

Default The gt4 is not going away anytime soon...

From the manner, tone & language used by Andreas Preuninger in his Evo interview, I would be very surprised if we don't see a gt4 on the Cayman model line from now onwards....including a face lifted MY2017 version when that comes out in calendar year 2016! As for N/A engines vs Turbo, Andreas had something important to say about that subject too! Porsche will be competing with the cup version of this car at some racing series. And with this 'street' version at famous 24 hours races for the publicity value. And the gt4 Cayman will soon be a lasting presence at every Club Racing event of Porsche owner clubs the world over. Just as we can't imagine today a 911 model range without a gt3 version in the line up, I don't think we will ever have a Cayman model range without a gt4 in the foreseeable future!

And R&T goes wild

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...t4-first-look/

"Laps the Ring in 7:40"

I love it when people listen. THEY DIDN'T RUN IT YET ON THAT TRACK, IT'S AN ESTIMATE.
God bless EVO, proper gearheads.
