718 GT4?

Just saw that the new GT4 will also have the No-Lift Shifting feature, confirmed by AP at 5:30 here where they call it "Speed Shift":

From Automobile mag
"This time around, though, the actual gearing for both cars comes from the 911 GT3, a welcome improvement, as the Automobile staff was not thrilled with the gearing on the last generation GT4 because it was too tall for the power and torque. The new engine’s power and torque increases and its wider torque spread make the gearing a nonissue, and the cars pull well at lower rpm. "
"Hats off to the Porsche engineers for doing a superb job on these cars’ Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) calibration. We mentioned the dampers, but the springs, anti-roll bars, and ride height (1.2 inches lower than the last-gen GT4’s) are also unique."
"The new chassis and suspension of the Spyder and GT4 allow the whole package to work at another level, so I couldn’t wait to try the GT4 on the infamous Knock Hill racetrack."
"On top of the sensational handling, both of Porsche’s new entry-level GT cars have more than enough power for any street or track, without being intimidating. But it is their ability to let people “feel” their driving, arguably like nothing else available today, that puts them on another level from most modern sports cars. Indeed, the chassis-performance bar has been sent into orbit. How high? Put it this way: The 718 Spyder and GT4 may be the two best handling production cars I’ve ever driven."

"They still are, actually (“The ratios are identical in this new car,” says Preuninger. “We needed them for emissions), though this GT4’s gutsier engine does see it punch through each ratio with greater urgency. "

The Wheels verdict "Its magnificent"
Motortrend "This new GT4 is a beautifully balanced car, the front and rear axles working in harmony through both fast and slow corners. In fact, it's probably the best balanced Porsche in history, stable and progressive at the limit. This, combined with the sublime precision of the steering and the glorious crispness of the throttle response, allows you to place the GT4 exactly where you want it, exactly when you want to, and to effortlessly adjust your cornering line if needed."
Note the gearing is the same as before so sayeth AP. “The ratios are identical in this new car,” says Preuninger. “We needed them for emissions), though this GT4’s gutsier engine does see it punch through each ratio with greater urgency. "
"Oh, and a PDK transmission will be available in a few months for those who really want to chase lap times. The six-speed manual is fun, say the Porsche engineers, but the PDK is fast. No one will confirm it on the record, but it's whispered a PDK-equipped 718 Cayman GT4 has already lapped the Nordschleife seven to eight seconds quicker than the manual car."

I think the AP quote must take precedent with regard to the gearing👍

Seems like a couple good first mods would be a lightweight battery, a smaller starter, and the spyder front lip so you don’t have to worry as much about scraping. I hate low cars.

I think 1.2” is the 30mm lowered stance compared to non-PASM 718. Same height as last GT4...

Seems like a sweet car, as expected but maybe better than a sum of its parts (which were a bit of a let down).
ADMs abound in 3......2........1......
which will drag 981 prices up. Just sayin.
Anyways - we all win. The new GT4 looks like a winner and that doesn’t make the 981 GT4 any less of the same.

Keep in mind that the tires in the GT4 size just changed this year from N0 to N1. There seems to be a bigger difference between these than in the GT3 sizes.

I'd like to see reviews of the Spyder. If the gearing is the same as the GT3, that's intriguing, as well as the comments thus far on handling. Concerns would be ride height, as if it's lower than the Spyder it would be an adjustment.
I don't see many people paying ADMs though this time around. Allocations aren't out yet that I'm aware of and dealers are already offering MSRP. Seems to be a different tone. Also, add ADMs and you compete with the flood of GT3's on the market, which are a better buy when you're only at a $10-$20k delta.
