718 GT4?

I was hoping these daisy petal wheels were going to change from the prototype to the production model.
Gold wheels are nice, but not wth this design. I can't unsee the daisy pattern, Flat black will hide the design a bit.
Also the dash vents on the 718 aren't that appealing to the eye.

I suspect there were three main reasons I never fell for the GT4: tall gearing, on the limit handling characteristics (likely down to the strut rear suspension) and the hole in the torque band. It was a technically great car despite those issues, but I was never quite able to bond with it because of them.
Of these Porsche has addressed the torque band with the 781's 4.0 liter. Meanwhile the rear suspension is what it is and the gearing actually got worse.
85 mph in 2nd... It's a little depressing even to think about, especially given how outstanding the Spyder would be with just that slight change.
I don't buy the CAFE argument but in the end it doesn't matter. I'd need to buy the car with a gear swap budgeted in, at which point you blow the warranty and really need to ask why you're not going with a used 981...
The 781 simply cements the GT4 as the modern day 944 Turbo/ 951 in my mind. Intentionally neutered from the factory and thus all the more epic when modified correctly. The 781's big engine will only make it more so, but like the 951 Turbo S I'm finding it harder to justify the new price given that I've learned that it isn't quite my cup of tea out of the box. It will be interesting to see if it's as hard to get as the 981 GT4 once was. My strong suspicion is that it won't be...

Anyone know what the real weight gain is? I know AP said it is 30kg and the 80kg difference on paper is cause the of rules on what is included changed. But the US specs say GT4 curb weight is 3199lbs, vs 2955lbs for the 981 GT4. That is a 244lbs (110kg weight gain not 80kg as per AP).
Also the Euro specs say the DIN weight is 3130lbs (in line with AP's claims). For other models (GT3/speedster etc) the US curb weight and Euro DIN weight line up, but not for the GT4. Wonder if the US spec GT4 is heavier for some reason or just a website error?
It is even worse for the spyder, where the on paper went from 2899lbs to 3206lbs - 307 lbs gain! Really curious how much of that is real gain vs how you measure.

I like black painted calipers and a red stripe at 12 o'clock options... and that's about it. OK, maybe that Gentian blue is cool and different.
Those dash vents fail.... and they f'd up that sexy rear end.
Glad I picked up my CPO when I did.
