As for the engine, with the press release everything that was said make sense now.
"We reworked the existing engine to make it 4.0L and 420HP", that's what was said. I had assumed that meant the 3.8L from last gen was the 'existing' engine. 4.0L GT3 engine was always going to be too expensive to be used in a GT4 application also. What they meant was actually the existing 3.0L turbo one instead. But then again who would have thought of them converting and enlarging a turbo-ed engine to make it NA.
But then again they are Germans ad I do't speak German, so they had to translate to English the talking so perhaps some meanings were lost in translation.
More surprise will be the 718-6, a 3rd model in the 718 range that will get the flat 6, good way to amortize the cost of the new engine.
And I have yet to hear confirmation on the GT4RS.

Here is a link to a youtube video walk around by AP...
If you open on a PC, here are the exact steps:
- click on cc box on lower right side menu when video is running
- then choose closed captions
- then click on next button to the right of the cc box, the menu wheel
- then click on subtitles, cc
- then scroll to desired language.
The translation in not perfect but it is at least understandable.

As in body panels? Nah, last year the cars were still prototypes, so miss matched bumpers and whatnots. But the GT4 ClubSport was in final spec so I know what the front and rear will look like.

Yes, and comparing 996.1 to 997.1 GT3’s there was a 55 hp gain (360 to 415)
in 997.1 to 991.1 there was a 60 HP gain (415 to 475)
so most people were expecting a bigger HP gain from a new generation ( not just a facelift) car
there are no .2 versions of the GT4’s so you can’t compare facelift deltas in horsepower from GT3 to GT4 , except, I guess if you go by “model years” to increases in HP, then it would be 360-380 (20hp) then 380-415 (35hp) then 415-430 (15hp) then 430-450 (20 HP) the 450-475 (25hp) then 475-500 (25 again)

I don't get how people are saying they expected more power. 420 PS was what the rumormill on here has been saying for months if not more. A jump of 40 or so from the last car is actually pretty significant. Most of the time you only see jumps of 20-25 PS between revisions of n/a GT cars. Not sure what people expected here. The car even got a new engine and displacement bump like they did when they facelifted the GT3. I was partially considering upgrading to one of these things and was watching this closely, but I think at the end of the day the car ended up too expensive for me to justify (especially when you factor in the dealer experience surrounding GT cars and trying to pay the right price). I'm going to have to say that the Spyder actually is the better looking car of the two this time around.

See above post^^
again, I think most hoped for more HP based on gen 1 vs gen 1 — not just facelifts revisions like in the GT3 cars
