The test mules in the videos had a distinct sound - not just a 4.0 that’s being short shifted. A long stroke or ‘under square’ 4.0 could be why it sounded different. It’ll be mighty torquey if it’s the case!

Whoopsy, any changes to the gt4 wing? I'd imagine it's mostly the same. (If you can answer that of course)

Looks almost the same, maybe it is the same. The only one with a different wing is the GT4CS with the top mounted one.

The GT3/RS engine cost a lot more than the old 3.8L. If they do that the price will be jacked up by quite a bit.

It's funny how you say, if they do it like as if you did not know already.

Message received though.

This is why I’ve been very skeptical anytime someone swears it’s getting the GT3 engine. IMO it would make no sense unless Porsche was changing the positioning of the GT4/Spyder entirely. Which I don’t think would make any sense for them to do.

Lots of factors go into decisions like this. For example, BMW put the S55 from the M3/4 in the M2 due to emissions rather than try to get the N55 compliant or work on getting the B58 to "M" standards. It also still costs 10% less for the car from the M4 (and it's loaded versus some options you'd have to get for the M4 to have the same level of options) even though the S55 and related components are "a lot" more expensive. All told a similarly equipped M4 would be something like 20-25% more (don't quote me). If it was 1:1, then the GT4 would be circa 120k but that's not usually how things go.

EDIT:

None of us may be able to buy a GT4 anyway, with or without a 4.0 engine regardless of the source.

That's why the GT4 will have the 3.8 enlarged to 4.0 and the GT4RS will have the GT3 engine.

Rederic!

Its just negotiation tactics.

If this does happen those of us with 981 GT4s will be sitting pretty IMHO.

Until we need parts, which apparently are to be included in the proposed ban. Before long US GT4s will start looking like Cuban 1952 Chivverlays with soup-can carbuerators welded atop paint-roller-tray intake manifolds.

I wonder if a 25k tax would slow GT car sales one bit?

The recently upped (to a total of 25%) sales tax on cars valued at more than C$150k by the province of BC has badly hurt the higher end car market here. MAGA by buying your cars in Canada and importing them yourselves! Avoid the tarrifs! The future is bright for Canadian GT4s!

Until it's repealed by the next president. lol.

I wouldn't want to pay it unless it seemed like the tax was here to stay a la VAT. It would massively hurt the new car market and massively boost the used car market. Not a lot of people can afford their 36k Camrys as it is. Imagine that car now being 45-50k with a 25% tax.

I wonder what our supreme leader will do with his Mercedes and other luxury non american cars he owns.

WTB 981 GT4. Guards Red or Sapphire Blue.

I suppose it’s true with the Camry, but a lot of folks have paid 25k ADM on GT3s... for a 35K car, a 25% tax is insane. But most who can afford a 100k car can affford a 125k one.

and you mean WTB Carmine Red
