I am in I was thinking the same thing, I ran the ring back in 2012 was there on a tourist day, rented a track prepped scirocco for a half a day. Got under 10 minutes, somehow I don't think that will cut it now the challenge is to just get on, away on business until tomorrow night, hopefully the site is back up.

 

I managed to get on @ midnight CST last night and download everything. Did 1 lap on Tourist... feels good. Hopefully it'll still be up tonight and I can have some fun with it.

Congrats on the Miata.

I'm goofing around with the Miata on the Tourist config of Nord now.

Did a non-clean 7:04 in the RUF RWD (crazy). Hoping to get under 10 in the Miata that's clean.

 

Okay did a 6:47 clean in the Ruf, lots left just need to remember some of the corners found the car needs plenty of rebound in the shocks and lots of wing.

 

I do since it's pretty close to the spec Boxster. I'm game.

The best I've managed so far in the Ruf is a 6:55. Lots of time on the table. I haven't run the tourist course in the McLaren yet but that car is a pussycat. You almost have to try to get it out of shape.

...I actually just joined VLN Fun, under hosted, driving the C-Spec, but there is a miata available to drive there as well.

Did an 8:10.x in the Miata last night on Tourist.

 

Got a couple laps in last night. The site is still buggy and would only let me drive the MP4-12C in open practice. It's glorious. The Ring is fantastic, but it turns out that I don't know the second half of the course very well at all. I did about 10 laps and I'm getting a bit more familiar, but it's going to take some time.

I took the 2015 F1 car for a rip around the GP course as well, and that's actually a lot of fun. There's so many settings for all the harvesting, deploying, etc. I'd like to read a manual about that. It's pretty funny deploying the DRS even with a gentle bend in the road. It's like a button that makes you spin.

The best part of the new build is the particle effects though. I love seeing bits of rubber flying off the tires and hearing the grit plinking off the insides of the fenders. It's cool that you can dirty up the tires going off track and the physics deals with the subsequent reduction in grip. The flames look better, the smoke looks better. A+

Eh... to me it's not that big of a deal. I guess I'm easy on those things since I work in software. So far I love the update. Ring is great and I really like the updated tire sounds.

 

Yeah, me too. Every time I checked to see if it was up yet and then went back to relaxing on the couch I imagined what was going on there.
