I was running at least a second slower than the previous night when you had a 2:05. Track was a lot different. I had a hard time keeping the car together through an entire lap. Only clean times were at least 2 seconds slower than the other night. I think Jim and Justin were in the 2:07's???
Jim ran a 2:06.6 and I squeaked by with a 2:06.5. I felt liked I worked pretty hard for that lap time and there wasn't much more I could get out of it. My session optimal was 2:06.0.
Ya that 6.6 was the ONLY 6 I managed to cut in the entire session. I ran a bunch of low 7s though. I also was not going flat through the kink. Couldn't get the car to turn in quite how I wanted.
Yeah, the track felt a lot slower than the night prior with all of the good times in the 2:04 - 2:05 range. Everytime I tried to get back to my 2:09 time I ended up losing the rear end in 5, 8 or 14 on exit. Probably entry issues or too early on the throttle.
I also was not going flat through the kink. Couldn't get the car to turn in quite how I wanted.
That's what I like about random weather. On Wednesday, there's no guarantee that the kink will be flat out again. The winds might change, the grip and power might change. Even during our session, the kink might not have been flat every time. I was tracking out on to the curbing and barely hanging on. It is worth .07 to go flat through there though compared to a half-lift.
With today's changes the car, who knows what we'll be doing on Wednesday.
I ran enough laps at COTA to get in the 1:30s in the BMW. Interesting car, the engine bores me but the car can throttle steer a bit. The TCS thing is weird but might be a huge help for the less experienced.
