Lots of misinformation in here, for instance saying every Dealer can do out of State Registrations. That is not always the case, it depends on how various State's said licensing so please check your State's DMV for rules. Most States will not charge you taxes, etc. if you are not a resident, though there are some exceptions, so again do your due diligence. If you are buying out of State it is quite common for the State the vehicle was purchased in to issue a Temporary Tag but they can be valid from 30 to 60 days, and in some cases once expired ( if there are delays ) they can not be re-issued.

Do not assume items as a quick check of each State's rules can save you problems later. Due to the price and fuel mileage , some States even have additional forms to be filled out in addition to the normal paperwork, so check on this so you don't have a surprise at the DMV. Example ; New Jersey has a luxury/fuel mileage extra surcharge and if you get all the way towards getting your license at a busy DMV, not having that form could cause you another trip and long delay.

most dealers CAN do out of state reg but not all will. For instance, ours has a service that we use because we couldn’t possibly know and keep up with every states changes, taxes, updated forms and fees etc.

Dealers should not give you the certificate of
origin. If they do, that’s their choice, but in most cases, depending on the brand, it is against their dealer agreement. I would never hand that over.

The key word is MOST Dealer can do out of State registration is a blanket statement without knowing the laws in each and in some the individual has to come in themselves to do the process, so paying a service to do it is not always the answer. After selling over 3000 performance vehicles in all 50 States over a 30 year period I can say laws are constantly changing and Forums telling folks absolutes is not only dangerous it can cause buyers issues. One should get on their State's DMV site as well as asking the Dealer ( from another State ) what they can do to help if anything?

Selling an individual and giving them the MSO is not an issue in many cases , if filled out, what is against Dealer protocol and agreement is to give them one unsigned. This is also against the law in almost all the States because it avoids sales taxes , regardless if small or large. One can give another Dealer an unsigned Manufacturers Statement of Origin ( same as a CSO ) but in almost all cases it is against the Franchise Agreement with the Manufacturer to sell to a used Dealer even if the State allows. This can, in fact, cause fines in an audit with said Manufacturer, or even cause a loss of some allocation. Different penalties or issues are seen with different companies , as one can expect.

Do your due diligence , ask plenty of questions, and rely on your requirements for your State. It is not hard, anymore , to also look up the situation if buying in another State by checking their website. The rules and laws can change so quickly that what is in effect one year can change the next so good luck and despite all the comments made it is usually not that difficult to buy in another State.

Same for me. My Cayenne S arrived in Emden on 7/11 and it has been updated since but don't expect it to occur until leaves port. There are 2 ships in Emden now (Sunshine Ace and Neptune Koper). Hoping that mine will be on one of them!

According to the standard Porsche model release timeline, this Cayenne mid-model-cycle refresh was supposed to be released 1 year ago. Porsche already has one extra year to do the development / testing works.

Folks

Just a quick non-update, My Cayenne S is still stuck at German port ( Reached German port on 06/20). I have not received any further input from my SA. Porsche tracking App still shows the past dates (Leaving German Port on 07/14). Wish I could go back in time .

This is my first time ordering Porsche instead of picking up from the existing inventory (2003 Cayenne S & 2005 Carrera). Some things I loved in this process, (Being able to build the car as I wanted) and some things not so much... (Suspense around when the ordered vehicle will show up). I have to make travel plans around the Cayenne delivery because mine is an out of state purchase. Now everything is up in the air as I have no clue when to expect the Vehicle in my hands.

Wish you all the best for your orders.... Hopefully, soon we will be talking about the Cayenne itself, not the build / delivery..

My Cayenne S has been at Emden since 7/11/23. My sales manager said that it should be on the SFL Composer due to leave Emden on 7/25. We shall see!

Which port is your vehicle expected ?.
Mine was ordered in Boston ( Porsche Burlington, Herb Chambers) and I heard from our fellow Rennlister that expected port should be Davisville , Rhode Island.

Agree! 😂 And based on what I read recently on another post, the CARB certification may not occur until August. So we probably won't see our Cayennes until September.
