Over 45 years in aerospace and familiar with negative impact SW can have on operational capability/functionality. I had SW issues with my 992C4S from the start. I loved the design and mechanical capability of the car but eventually sold it back to the dealer due to vehicle not operating as advertised. Dealer purchased it back but then resold within a week without even putting on the repair parts shipping in from Porsche. Sorry for the purchaser and suspect he/she will realize the SW faults within a few weeks.

IMHO, Porsche needs to fire their SW team and hire REAL engineers that understand what they are trying to accomplish in each models design approach and how to achieve such. Then, prove such prior to release. Additionally, I honestly think Porsche should realize they may need to retrofit previously produced vehicles hardware components demonstrating SW problems with upgraded parts when SW issues are the cause.

Do I think this will happen? FAT Chance! Pride and financial greed have a way of blinding people into poor business decisions. Will probably take a Class Action to resolve but bottom line is I am not impressed with their SW QA.

I’m using a OBDII reader to review and clear the codes so that I don’t miss a “real” check engine light

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1\\

$120 - I keep it in the car - and use my iPhone to read the code - who knew an OBDII reader was a required accessory for Cayenne/Porsche ownership?

so far this is working well enough - but it isn’t special or particular to Porsche - but I can find out _IF_ the code number _IS_ the number that is the “false positive” code.

after reading the code, and taking a screen shot on on my phone to record date/time and milage - I clear the code so that we can continue to drive the vehicle with no check engine light on.

it looks like my hope/dream/wish of having this fixed by Porsche before the end of the calendar year is unlikely at this point…

I am concern about this issue as the vehicle is unsellable in this condition with the need for full disclosure to the next buyer, which is likely to be very very spooked by this issue even though the actual issue is no problem.

this is a “sh*t” show and one of the reasons in my experience no particular car brand is better than others - they all have problems and they all suck sometimes - no one is immune.

Quick update - I’ve been charging the car at 20amps and 240v (4.8kWh) for a few cycles and haven’t noticed anything. Not super hopeful it won’t reappear however might as well try something.

only thing we all agree on is this doesn’t seem to be impacting cars who didn’t option the 7.2kWh onboard charger. So cranking down the power seems like a logical thing to try.

sitting on Santa's lap today - was asking for a Mission R allocation - he said "no can do" but then offered me a consolation prize…he noted his North Pole elves will have a software update for the CEL issue - probably before end of January - so put your cookies and milk out and hope the elves finish software QA so we can put this issue behind us…

I can only hope. I have started to lose faith and have begun thinking about what would be an appropriate replacement. I would much rather just have it fixed. To add insult to injury, my charger is now throwing a code after every use. The dealer says that is a software fix they can do. It goes back in Monday. We will see!

Does this issue affect e-hybrid with standard 3.6kw charger? I’m considering an order for one.

I was told all 2022 MY do not have this issue. They have resolved in the new builds, they are working on a fix for the MY '21

porsche may know the answer to this but we do not

we have incomplete data

but no one on this forum has reported the issue with 3.6 kW charger - but again that is a not a definitive conclusion - cause we don’t have the entire data set.

personally I wouldn’t compromise the vehicle configuration to avoid a “fake” CEL issue - the car is so much more functoinal with a 7.2 kW charger - because you can fully charge it in 3 hours or less - meaning you can use pure battery 2 or 3 times a day with 2 hour breaks between drivings - this works well for me personally with some errands int he morning and again in the afternoon - meaning each time the car’s Hybrid battery is full having only sat idle for 2 or 3 hours - with the 3.6 kW charger it would take 6 hours to fully charge the battery between uses…

get the car the way you want it - and then make Porsche fix it if it’s broken

Had a CEL come up on a 22 Ehybrid, which has already disappeared, but when I tried to pull the code this message kept coming up on the dash when I pushed the button to read codes. The reader said there were no codes. Has anyone experienced this as well? The message is "HV system is not de-energized" and I used an ANCEL AD310 scanner.

I wasn't able to confirm what the code was, so don't know if it is the same one people have been seeing: U0122 - Lost Communications With Vehicle Dynamics Control Module

this happens to my reader as well - I think it’s a warning in case you’re “actually” tearing the car apart and working on it as opposed to just checking codes.
