I have a friend that bought the same car and had the same issue. He went the lemon route. Porsche offered to buy it back or write him a check for 10% of the purchase for him to keep it. He got them up to 15%, took the cash and traded it in for an e-tron.
What model year is yours? And is it just the Hybrid or the Hybrid Turbo?

Hope more people go lemon route so Porsche get their act together and figure this out. 15% is a lot of money for Porsche to lose on these cars

Can anyone confirm if people are getting CEL with 3.2kw charger? Also someone in this thread said they got it on their Cayenne S not sure if it was a typo but that'd mean it's more widespread

Sorry. Thought I included in the title to my post. 21 Cayenne Coupe E-Hybrid. Charging at home using 7.2kw charger on a standard outlet.

yeah my little birdies have told me this is a fleet wide issue - it’s interesting to me that we still have _NO_ confirmed cases of this issue with a 3.6 kW charger - only 7.2’s reporting th problem

but yeah this happens on all the ‘21’s and later as far as I know - I’m still being told to expect a software update at some point in the future that will resolve these issues - Porsche is aware of the problem and has no fix at this time.

Odd similar thing happened on my 2019 e-hybrid with 7.2kw charger the other day…. Unplugged it with a full charge and drove it about 4 miles, turned it off for about 2mins, and when tried to start it again it wouldn’t start. CEL was lit and the right dash screen was displaying error “Engine could not be started, remove charger plug”. Of course it wasn’t plugged in. After letting it sit for 5mins I tried/failed to start it again (no error) and on third attempt it started with no CEL. Coincidentally I had an appointment with the dealer already scheduled for next day and I did catch video of the fails and the final start, which I shared with the dealer. Unfortunately they weren’t able to reproduce and the car has been perfect ever since. Not feeling super great about though it as you might imagine.

There's also nothing stopping people from going the lemon route, taking the payout, keeping the car (15% payouts have to be more advantageous for Porsche versus them trying to sell these as used cars with with CELs on, otherwise they wouldn't offer the payouts), and then waiting for a recall/fix. Run the risk that they never fix it, but I think that risk is low given how many people it's affecting.

Huh? The 15% settlement is way more advantageous to Porsche than having to buy back the car for its un-depreciated amount.

15% is peanuts. Having to buy back the cars for their un-depreciated amount will get Porsche's attention (and possibly a higher priority being assigned to the software patch) much quicker.

Agree. They rather give us 15% than try to resell these things. And if you take the cash, keep the car and they issue a fix, I'm pretty sure they'll still fix yours. 15% for a (hopefully) temporary inconvenience isn't too bad.

Edmunds is telling me a similarly equipped 2020 Cayenne Coupe E-Hybrid (couldn't get an appraisal for a 2021) with 5k miles is only worth 70% of last year's purchase price. When I start lemon conversations, I'll pull out that report and start negotiations at 30%. I'll almost certainly take the cash versus the buyback as I really like the car and I imagine a fix will come. They should be equally incentivized to fix it whether they buy it back or whether they cut you a check for the difference between the purchase price and the price they'd sell it again at. Just make sure you get the math right ;-)

I suspect the 70% is charitable. Take the car to another Porsche dealer and ask them for their best cash purchase price. You probably won't get more than 50%.

So my 2021 Cayenne e Hybrid (Non Turbo) with 7.2 has been throwing this CEL since the first week I bought it in July. Scanned it tonight and it showing that it threw a U0122 fault code. Off to the dealer tomorrow for an inspection.

U0122 is consistent with the known issue discussed in this thread - if your service guys have an actual solution I’m all ears.
