this my exact problem…I've come to "deal with" knowing a fix might be on it's way - I hope Porsche is working on this.

Did you get any concession from Porsche? I remember you were pursuing lemon route

So I was contacted by my dealer. They said it's a problem with the charger. Porsche in Germany is aware of the problem and said they're working on a software fix. I can either leave my vehicle there and drive the loaner or take mine back and drive it without any safety issues. I think I'd rather leave it there and if it stays there for 30 days then at least I'll have options. I'd rather not drive it with the CEL on. I probably should've taken it in when the CEL first came on 1.5 months ago.

Contacted by dealer.

Similar to others: "known issue with no fix yet." He was surprised by Porshe's response.

He gave me two options: I could return the car, or take it with some "consideration" like "a lease payment or something."

My wife is suggesting that I ask around for the resale value difference between a 400-mile Cayenne TSEH flawless vs. one with unfixable known software issue.

What's everyone's thoughts? How much does this issue effect the value of my new car?

TIA!

At least they gave you a "consideration". All I got was a Macan that barely fits my kids in the back. Frankly if they offered me a buyback I'd take it and get a Cayenne S and be done w/ it. I'm going to wait the 30 days (California lemon law). If they fix it within that timeframe then great because the eHybrid is fantastic and, if not, I'll lemon it and get something else.

I'm still in the loaner (a Macan as well.)

Debating whether to keep it or sell it. Leaning towards keep it. I intend to own the car for several years. If there was a plugin PHEV Macan I would trade in a heartbeat. I can't imagine that Porsche won't have a fix before it's time to sell.

But what is the proper size of the concession to keep it? I could lemon it tomorrow. $20k on a $180k vehicle?

Default CEL Issue Update

I got the following from my service rep today. My car has been in for 2 weeks. I am also driving a Macan.Service Mgr told me that Porsche has hundreds of open cases for this concern. They are going to actually be issuing a campaign like a recall in the next few weeks to update vehicles that are not even having any problems as well. Charging all still the same, no issue there.

So, I plan on giving them 30 days like others and then go after the Lemon Law option. Let's hope this info is accurate and Porsche is working a fix right now.

this is consistent with what I’m hearing, but I have not yet heard about any “campaign” - but if it is a fleet wide issue this would make sense.

If we have a full year to pursue lemon law, why are you deciding to pursue it early?

Asking because I’m grappling with the same decision.

I may be content to drive it around for a few months “as is,” knowing I can flip it back any time. And, if a software patch isn’t available before winter tire season, back it goes.

Interested in other opinions.

Fair. I would probably give more than 30 days... but to your point... by the end of the year... no thanks.

I’m pretty confident Porsche will fix this - they have to - the question is time frame…which to date no one in any capacity at Porsche has been willing to provide in writing…time will tell.

Porsche should also make this right for all of us who have been inconvenienced by the quality issue.

How could they run a recall campaign if there's no fix yet? Just to give everyone Macan loaners to drive?

Follow up point that someone pointed out in another forum: a car with a CEL illuminated is an automatic "fail" on an emissions test.

Another point (insult to injury): the dealership sold me expensive rim&tire insurance and ceramic coating. I guess I was in a buying mood. I also paid to have an electrician install a wall mount charger in my garage. Insane to think that I purchased insurance/coat/electric for a car that I'm handing right back.

It's my understanding that the rim/tire insurance is refundable (prorated of course). If the ceramic coating is part of the purchase price I would expect that to be refunded as well. The electrician bill, which I also have, well....who knows.
