I bought both the ceramic and rim/tire insurance from the same dealership in quick followup. So, not part of the original purchase price, but through the dealership as add-on.

I certainly hope you're correct about both being refundable (even if prorated.)

Of course, my utmost hope is for Porsche to announce a timetable and/or recall for the issue!

As I stated above, another factor I hadn't considered: cars with CEL illuminated automatically fail emissions. This tilts the scale back towards "return" for me, assuming we get into Q4 with no fix in sight.

Confirmed code U012200, as others have stated. Going to get an OBDII reader and check/clear them as they occur. Meanwhile, Porsche is on the clock to fix this, else I will lemon it. I can’t own a car that won’t pass state inspection.

So I just got an update from my dealer. They'll be ordering a new charger as they think this will fix the problem. They don't even know when they'll be able to get one. I believe they tried this solution w/ one of the forum members and it did not work. Either way, I'm leaving my vehicle with them and will drive the loaner. Yes, clock is ticking.

So, just additional updates. After 2 weeks at the dealership for the second time, I have taken my Cayenne Coupe back and will wait for the fix. I did get a call from the Service Manager who said that Porsche was working on a fix and believed it would be ready in a "few" weeks. @luvawatch, I don't think the new charger will work, but maybe you will get lucky.

Out of curiosity, when is your state inspection? If soon, that might give you additional leverage in lemon law repurchase negotiations.

Hi all, just checking in to see if anyone with this issue has received updates. Mine is still sitting at the dealership....2 1/2 weeks and counting.

Are you going to lemon it?

Dealer had our Cayenne for a couple days and saw the U0122 code in the history (our light turned off right before the appt), and said there wasn't anything they could do (aside from "complimentary rebooting of the computer"). A day after getting it back the light came back on for the same code and they want me to bring it by again. Why it matters if its on or off I have no idea, its clearly listed in the code history on the computer. Thats the stage we're at. I prefer having the car at least vs a macan loaner so Im glad they aren't holding our car when there is no known fix.

When we do bring it back in with the light on I suppose that'll count as our second visit for the same issue, so we'll make progress towards the lemon law requirements altho that isn't our goal. I still believe this is the best plug in hybrid on the market for us at this time.

Yes, that's the plan when it hits the 30 day mark.

no updates - software update schedule is still TBD according to my service manager who ping’d regional tech support this week.

I’ve had the lights come on and I’m logging them and clearing them.

Default New issue

I have a question. My main battery is showing 13.3V which seems low to me. I am asking bc I had a fault happen the other day where the warning came up saying my right turn indicator was out. When I got home and checked it was working fine. I had that same fault happen the first time the CEL came on in June.
My 2021 Boxster runs at 14.4V regularly, so that is why I am asking. I have a Porsche charger which I used overnight. It said the battery was fully charged, but still at 13.3V. Any comments?

I believe your 718 has an AGM battery, as opposed to the Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) starter battery in your eHybrid. Plus, I’m guessing you’re only seeing the 14.4v with the engine running. AGM needs a higher charge voltage than LFP. Apples and oranges.

I just checked mine with engine stopped - 13.1 volts. That’s about right. LFP cells run about 3.2v - 3.3v nominal. There are 4 cells in your battery = 12.8v to 13.2v nominal. It is charged at 13.6v. An AGM battery uses six 2.0v cells but charges at a higher voltage - 14.7v

One thing to check - make sure your Charge-O-Mat is set to Li-Ion Mode for your Cayenne. While the Normal Mode may charge the battery, the float function will not work properly.

Default 21 Cayenne Coupe E-Hybrid

Getting the same CEL. Brought mine home in late May and got my first CEL in June. It self cleared by the time I got to the dealership. I went three weeks without charging it June-July while on a road trip and didn’t get a CEL during that time. As soon as I got home and started charging again, CEL came back. Mine has been at the dealer for 10 days. Took 2 weeks to get an appointment and they won’t have loaners available for another few weeks.

I have a friend that bought the same car and had the same issue. He went the lemon route. Porsche offered to buy it back or write him a check for 10% of the purchase for him to keep it. He got them up to 15%, took the cash and traded it in for an e-tron.
