Mr12Volt - The solution for Carplay and Android Auto integration
#436
This is great to hear. Will be ordering one soon, though I'm still doing a bit of research on whether the Bluetooth version (bandwidth) in this is superior to the version used in the PCM. I mostly listen to FLAC via Tidal streaming over Bluetooth, and while it's of course being compressed streaming over Bluetooth, the use of a newer version (more bandwidth) would be reason enough to upgrade for me.
So don’t worry about the quality of lossless audio over Bluetooth with this solution. It won’t be traversing bluetooth, it will be traversing WIFI.

Forgot to quote the original post, but I”m curious about replacing the startup logo.
How do you do this? I’m assuming it’s a transfer to a USB stick, then upload to the Mr12volt box. But what’s the requirements for file name/location?

2. Rename the JPG file to "bootlogo" and ensure there is no filename extension of ".jpg".
3. Extract the update.zip (attached here). Copy the extracted "update" flle and "bootlogo" into the root folder of an empty USB drive.
4. Plug into the USB port of mr12volt and turn on the car.
5. The boot logo should get updated.

Another shout out to Roman! I'm thrilled with this bit of kit.
I installed Mr12 Volt in my 2012 CTT with SiriusXM board. Install was flawless. Took just over 4 hours, including watching and stopping videos a couple hundred times and quadruple checking the ribbon cables. My PCM 3.1 was similar to twodollardougs's, I had to use 2 brass standoffs and 2 black plastic standoffs to account for the height differences in the mounts. It took a while to find the AUX BLUETOOTH setting to uncheck.
It's been 3 days with no bluetooth handoff issues between iphones, sound through the Burmester sounds the same, no boot up or screen line issues. I learned to rearrange the carplay icons through my iphone settings>general>carplay>select vehicle.

2. Unpaired both PCM and Mr12volt in phone, removed the phone from PCM, also in P2000>Bluetooth deleted the phone. Paired again with mr12volt first and then with PCM. Problem came back (FAIL).
Further testing:
While connected to Android Auto, if I turn off the "Phone calls" for mr12volt in the phone, everything works as expected. Outgoing calls work are handled by PCM and car speakers. Steering buttons continue to work. (SUCCESS)
However, the next time when the ignition is turned on, mr12volt doesn't establish the bluetooth connection with the phone automatically. Android Auto doesn't work and shows "bluetooth connection couldn't be established" error. To fix this, "Phone calls" setting had to be turned back on, which brings up the original problem (FAIL).
IMHO, pairing the phone with PCM should not be a requirement for steering buttons to work. However, since this is a requirement, mr12volt should have the ability to connect to the phone's bluetooth with the "phone call" setting turned off and let PCM handle both incoming and outgoing calls. @Roman ACS Is there a fix for this?

Hi all,
Nothing like reviving an old thread! Since I can't 'easily' drive an NSX, I'm looking at getting a 911 C4S. Having Wireless CP is a must have for me and this Mr 12 Volt sounds promising. I've got a couple questions:
- Is there an installer in the Portland, OR area
- Could I just take the car to Car Toys and have them install a new wireless CP/AA unit (with better resolution) and retain the front trim and buttons even if none of the buttons work and have them install an hd backup camera?

Heya,
While I'm no mechanic by any stretch (shocker!) I am very familiar with working on computers, I'm sure after seeing the install vids on YT I'll have no trouble with the install of your board into the unit. The rest of the install, would be new to me, especially placing that blue box somewhere. I would install it on the passenger side as that seems to be a better route to go. I've just got basically zero tools at my disposal, is there a kit or two (or three), you can recommend on Amazon to help ensure a safe installation Torx, plastic pry picks, etc.?
Has anyone else tried to install something like a new Pioneer head unit? I'm unsure which path to take, atm.
