Does this also require an extra dash kit? Is so, what are you guys using?

No dash kit required. This unit fits exactly where the PCM is.

So what's the consensus with this unit? Sound quality on par with original PCM? Any major issues? What are the cons?

I've been following the dynavin and most recently the avin avant in E46 forums and just wanted to share the information that I've learned so far.

It appears that the avin avant 2 is technically superior in both hardware and the software interface over the dynavin unit. The avin avant 2 has a very sleek user interface and is a full android system running 4.1.1 A link demonstrating the unit is below:

The problem: the avin avant 2 has not been released for the cayenne, yet. However, the man behind the avin avant 2, Tommy, has informed me that he does plan to make a unit for the cayenne sometime this year. I'm sure the more interest people showed in the unit, the quicker that could materialize.

It's a great unit comparing to PCM. You get all the latest and greatest techie stuff. Sound is pretty good comparing to PCM as well. It does have some quirkiness with the User Interface, but not so bad. I can live with the quirkiness. Bluetooth connection is instantaneous which is a great plus for me. I usually do mostly music streaming from my iPhone to the car. Definitely recommend for the price.

What I like about the Dynavin unit is the stock appearance. It'd be a good upgrade to my Cayenne which has a regular radio instead of PCM. I just wish it can integrate with the CD Changer.

Just saw there is a new version of the Dynavin coming at the end of June. What is interesting is that it requires an external MOST adapter that they are selling for $99. I wonder if their adapter can be made to work with other head units?

Hey drew take the ')' out of the end of your link... The new unit is cheaper isnt it? The UI seems a little flatter and less windows-y. I wonder if this one is android based and cheaper because they dont have to pay a windows CE license.

edit:

Oh the price difference is probably the MOST adapter being separated..

What got me excited is the possibility of a $99 MOST adapter versus the $650 Nav TV adapter.

Looking at the N6-PC manual from the Dynavin site it looks like the MOST adapter has a universal interface that will work with any head unit

Thanks Drew for the heads up! I've been on the fence ordering the current model. I'll now wait til the new one is available.
