Thank you daddy's car. Can't wait to see Gaurang and Applechili's babies. We all belong to the same group of the expectant dads , feeding each other with lots of nice info like videos and reviews..debating back and forth on must have options. It was real fun for all of us who were the early adopters.

Default Options on the w00tMOBILE: Panorama roof system

Why did I order it: Never had a pana roof in any of my cars to date. Don’t see myself adding any more cars to the stable anytime soon; hence went for it.

My review: During the ordering stages I had quite a few concerns. I've outlined them and what follows is my response now that I have the pan roof.

1) Too much sunlight entering the cabin: Not really. The power shade has a closely-knit mesh material that cuts about 85 % of the sunlight. Given the fact that the two glass segments have a fairly decent tint (I think this level of tint is standard to even vehicles without thermal insulating glass), I never close the mesh cover and still hardly ever notice the sunlight. I will say this though. I have never sat in the backseats and my vehicle is equipped with thermal insulated glass windows so I don’t know how this would affect my impressions on the pana roof. Even come summer, I really don’t think too much light or heat will be a problem.

2) Squeaking: Nope. Even when driving up over an uneven surface or at 60 % incline/decline, no squeaks or rattles … yet.

3) Road noise: Don’t think so. The aid of special flaps, (see first picture) reduces turbulence and noise, even when roof is open when travelling at moderate speeds. When the pana roof is closed I hear very little road noise. Having said that I do not have a Cayenne without the pana roof to compare to and the presence of noise insulated glass option may skew my impressions on the positive side.

4) Added weight. Yeh, but certainly lighter than the pana roof of other vehicles icluding the pre-2011 Cayennes.

5)Cost of replacement or repair (should the mechanics fail in the future) and loss of structural integrity compared to a solid metal roof …. Ehh! Let’s not go there. I am the kind of guy that would like to enjoy and be thankful that the glass is half full than to worry about it being half empty

If I had to do it again: Yes .... just for the cool (ya not heat) factor

Great review w00t, you've made me a believer on this option. If I spec'd a CS, it would definitely be included, but it's a pricey option on the 6, esp since the moonroof is included with all the packages. I've been skeptical given the many 100+ summer days we see here in Vegas, but it seems like the heat/sun concerns wouldn't be as much of an issue as I originally thought. I'm sure adding some tint would be helpful as well. Maybe in a few years when I'm ready upgrade.

Thank you slwong for some kind words. Here is an interior shot looking up from driver seat towards the back with the interior screen fully retracted back and the pano fully closed.

I also got this Panoramic roof option after test-driving the sample car with this option.

The area of this roof for Cayenne is bigger than other brand like the ML model and it really gives the passengers in the back row a great feeling like unlimited headroom space.

The biggest factor is this one: Beige seems to be more a luxury colour while black is more sporty.
Jeez... I must have it backwards because I have beige in the "sports car" and black in the "luxury" car...

Craig, trust me financially it made the most sense to go for a pre-2011 Cayenne or some other lower priced SUV but after driving the new model and looking at the interior my family would not settle for anything but ...

My current CS is certainly more than adequate but having driven the new CS, its handling and interior design are alluring
