i just had my TT rebuilt by my dealer. thank god for the CPO! i was told the new block has an updated lining as well as possibly different material for the pistons. ill have to ask my dealer again for specifics.
anyway, for those in northern climates, are you adding any sort of block or dip stick warmer? i was considering a block warmer, but i could not find one that would fit properly and the oil pan is finned anyway. so, now im considering a dip stick heater for this winter. any suggestions?
thx

Also I have no work planned for the heads yet: I am going to clean and check them, but I was hoping to just clean them up and put them back on if there are no valve leaks...

As of right now I have all the parts in except for the oil spray nozzles which I just ordered. The block is still at the machine shop waiting for sleeves to arrived. Once I get the block I will be able to start the build! Hopefully by next weekend!

Guys I need advice on Primary Cats! My exhaust ripped at the flex joints when I pulled the motor... they were already gone, nothing I could do. I am looking for the most economical solution to this. Fabspeed has cat bypass pipes for 580$ but this mean failing emissions no?
Looking for options..! Maybe I can pull the current ones and have them repaired while the engine is out. I know with it in there it will be damn near impossible to do it!
Cheers

The cat bypass replaces the secondary cats not the primary ones. So if I understand your problem correctly cat bypass won't help.
What I've done on other vehicles is to remove the affected piping and flex coupling and have a welding shop weld in new flex couplings. Make sure to use stainless flex couplings and stainless welding wire. I've actually done this myself on and old Volvo. Very easy.
I do not recommend going to an exhaust shop unless you have a truly high quality shop near you. Most exhaust places are hacks and what you really need is quality welding.

Thanks Jagman!
Actually it is the secondary Cats... my mistake. The primaries are on the headers and are fine!
That said, I think welded repair is the way to go. Thanks for the input. Yes +1 with stainless parts and rod, I have experience there as well but think I might farm this one out..

Currently there are 3 new crate engines remaining in the world for this generation of vehicle.
Nothing ever stays the same.

Do you mean they sell only short blocks? Or what's a 'short lock'? I've never heard that term.
Anyway, I"d think a factory short block is a good way to go if you want stocker. Personally, if faced with this, I'd go for a bored rebuild but I'm not everybody.
