If you have an '04 it should be a PCM 2.0 (CD) and not a 2.1 (DVD). Try pressing the 1,4, & 8 buttons simultaneously and you should get a screen that will tell you what software version you have. Check out these threads below.

Depends on the parts. Bosch stuff I usually will try to order from the Bosch part # off the part rather than the Porsche part #. Some Porsche parts I get directly from a dealer in Oregon, Sunset Porsche.

Hello there. I saw your posts on vagcom. I have an 06 Cayenne Turbo S (I think you have the same?).
I am interested in getting the vagcom for (mostly) diagnostics and changing settings of modules, etc. As you mentioned vagcom can do 90% of what Durametric can do and that's good enough for me. Looking to spend least amount to get started. I bought the 06 CTTS only last year and still learning what can be done DIY vs. dealer. Please let me know which software and which cable I should buy to start with and information/link that can tell me what it can do. Appreciate all the help! I have a 2005 CTT with the factory backup camera, the camera does not work. It retracts but produces no image on the PCM, I know it is a bad connection in the camera, if I wiggle the wire that goes to the backup camera an image would sometimes show up. I bought an aftermarket camera that mounts in the license plate light. I have had some trouble installing it, i bought the wrong fakra to rca connector and I have not figured out how to do all the wiring and such. Is there any insight you can offer to me on this? Thanks!

If yours if truly a 2005 it should be PCM2.1 which is DVD based. The newer Nav dics from the dealer comes with 3 total discs. One to update the Nav drive under the passenger seat, one to update the head unit software in the dash unit, and the other is just the new Map navigation disc you will leave in the Nav drive once everything is updated. 2005 PCM2.1's came with Level A software which requires the update to use any 2006 or newer Nav maps. PM me your E-mail address as I'll shoot you the .pdf with the updating instructions as the new discs don't come with instructions. Like it says in the instructions, make sure your Pig is on a battery charger while you do the update.
