Default scca stock class becoming street class!

Bale fire what tires are you running!? I'm stuck between rivals and bridges tones. I'm also stuck with going 245 or 255 in the front, and 275 or 315 in the back.

Here's photos and info on the RE-71R's. I know lots of people are concerned about tire life. I am running 255/35-18 & 275/35-18. These photos are after 36 runs. 32 of them on a surface that is very abrasive and known to use up tires fast. The rears have 6.5-7 /32 in. depth left at the center grooves and the fronts have 7-7.5 32 in. I did not measure the depth when new, TR data says 8/32.

Anybody see the fine graining that resembles a well wearing Hoosier? I just giggle at the whole 200 TR thing.

Default 6GT3 choices

I have a 6GT3. I'm torn... modern rubber and 245/315 (F/R) or 255/275

OR

AD08Rs (180tw) and 255/295.

I'd really like to be competitive in SCCA but I'm not sure if the 315s will fit under the rear fenders. I'm not interested in rolling the fenders.

Well, the 6GT3s at nationals were running 255 and 315 hoosiers. I got some takeoffs from them and they didn't rub on my 996 either. 315 should be fine.

I think 255/275 is the most "reasonable" setup, but I may try out the Rival S and shoot for 315s just for the sake of experimentation. Now we just need to show up to the same tour event. I'd love to see some in-car video of launches at that prosolo.

How else would you expect a tire driven at the limit to exhibit wear, regardless if it's a 0TW Hoosier or a 200TW tire?

That's exactly what the 300TW Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my S2000 looked like a few years ago.

My RE11's also look like that.

Yes. I know that 180 tw is not legal in SCCA. But it is legal in PCA where I compete regularly. SCCA is just a fun extra for me.

That's exactly why I said I would *like* to run in SCCA. To run in SCCA I know I need 200tw tires. Hence my question... is it worth replacing the 180tw with modern rubber in sizes I don't prefer, and can I do it without rolling fenders? It sounds like I can fit the 315s without modifying the body.

Now I wonder if the newer rubber is sticky enough to offset the narrower width fronts (moving from 255 AD08Rs to 245 Rival S). And if changing the size offset front/rear will significantly alter the slight oversteer I'm enjoying right now (255/295 F/R I like -- 245/315 I'm not so sure about).

BTW: I'm already in SSP for SCCA because of my Euro GT3 seats. But I still need to drive to/from the event on the same tires that I compete with.

Lol euro GT3 seats, don't get us started! There are those amongst us who run those in street class...I put my stock one back in until the controversy blows over, though.

The 245 is pretty big up front. Yeah, bigger is better for front tires, but honestly the improvement in contact patch is probably lost on the squirm you're gonna get. The 245 rival S should be comparable to the 255 'stone. I'm going to try a 245 and 275 Rival S setup. I wanted to spring for 315s in the back, but it's just so much street tire. I think it'll deform too much. The size was okay on a Hoosier, but that's a different animal.

The recent skreet tire testing has shown little to no benefit in going wider with tire tread than the actual width of the wheel unless you're seriously camber challenged (which some of our cars are) - and even then the benefit is debatable.

Compound is far more important.

Hokey smokes 30 psi? Was this on a 996? Granted I'm on michelins, but even with 2 degrees camber in the rear I don't go below 40psi without the rollover setting in on a 285.
