Traction is very important to a good Pro launch. Take a look at the 60 foot times for E Street at Spring Nationals; they were getting off the line faster than Vivek in his Z06 or me in my C5 despite a power disadvantage of over 200 horses.

Looks like the Vette had a bad launch? I did testing on my car (987.2S) and found launch control was worth almost 4 tenths of a second; bad launch would cost a LOT of time and could easily flip the tables like that.

Yeah, it's not working on my iPad either. It's a YouTube video -- here's a direct link:

Edit: Uh, weird. If that doesn't work either, add https:// to this: youtube.com/watch?v=rXJX9wYRBy0

Take a look at the results again: Yom's best right side 60' time was almost three tenth snot a second faster than Goel's, and his best left time was a tenth faster. I was leaving the line faster than Vivek, but still a lot slower than James.

It's not any kind of surprise that a 911 out launches a Corvette; this is just a fun video illustrating it.

Is the 911 balefire? Looks like another 40th anniversary. Or did someone borrow my car over the weekend without me knowing it?

Also when you say Vivek, what is Vivek's last name? A Vivek codrove my 911 in 2013.

Haha. That is balefire's car, but certainly not my driving. As PedalFaster pointed out, my buddy's resume includes the 2013 national championship, multiple pro solo national championships, not to mention several 2nd and 3rd place finishes at nationals.

Vivek Goel who beat my friend at the NT with time to spare, used to autocross an NSX.

No, I suppose it's not a surprise, just counter-intuitive. I haven't done a pro solo yet, so haven't seen first hand- I ended up having to fly to Japan and missed the DC Pro last year, and then scca goes and schedules precisely zero events of any sort within a 12 hour drive of me this year. Maybe next year. Intellectually, it makes perfect sense, though, as both cars have far more horsepower than grip at launch and the car better able to put down grip will have better 60' times.

Also, it didn't occur to me that not everyone in this thread knows every national-level autocrosser. Amazing how many who do, actually, lol.

Porsche claims the PDK/Sport Chrono is worth at least 1/2 second 0-60 over manual in their literature for the new Cayman.

My closest national-level event is also a twelve hour drive away, and the one I'm attending this weekend is a twenty-six hour drive away. Running at the national level often requires a lot of commitment of the "committed to a facility" kind.
