WOW I'm on RS3 285 over the weekend and was at 36 and I think that may have been to low.

This past weekend I was at a cool & wet event on a gritty/dirty surface - low traction all around. I ran 29/29 cold (went to about 31/32 warm-ish) on the RE71R with no additional rollover.

They must have immensely stiff sidewalls compared to my michelins, or you guys just aren't thrashing the car hard enough!

Well, I took 1st place and I have two season championships so I assume I know how to drive.

My friend took a pair of RE71s and put them next to some ZII Star Specs - the sidewall difference was insane - the RE71 sidewalls are like rocks - they're essentially a Hoosier with tread carved into them (and they wear like a Hoosier).

Basically, if you're running anything other than the RE71r at this point, you don't like winning.

I'm sure the michelin PSS - a true street tire - would have a much more cushy sidewall than a real autocross tire like the re71r. I just didn't think it would be a 10+psi difference.

This past weekend, I tried cretinx's Jesus setup 34F/30R. On a very grippy surface I was getting a tad more rollover than I was looking for, especially in the rear tires. 35/33 and 34/32 were working well, and I was really happy with the overall balance.

I'm at 61 runs on my tires and center tread depth is at 5/32F and 4/32R. Starting to see some feathering on the center strip and block edges. I don't have any good photos of full tread but do have some of the outer edges taken before the pressure bump.

You can't compare my pressures to your pressures - my car probably weighs less and has a very different weight distribution.

Understood. You're in a 996, correct? I mostly used that as a starting point for running pressure lower in R than F. Previously I typically ran about 2lb higher in R. I eventually found good balance so it was a good exercise on a test and tune day where I had two different styles of course to practice on.

Adding some data here in support of the RE-71R dominance.

2015 Cayman GTS, PDK, PTV, X73 sport suspension
Front: 245/40R18, 18x8 wheels
Rear: 275/35R19, 19x9.5 wheels
Target hot pressure: 36 psi all around

Got my first competition experience on RE-71R tires on Saturday. The tires had about 70 miles of road use before the autoX -- basically just a pair of shakedown drives.

My results with and without the RE-71R tires running with the same club (PCA San Diego region)...

April event: 13/95 raw time, TTOD +3.96 seconds, 10th in indexed time (2nd autoX weekend on stock Goodyears)
May event: 22/92 raw time, TTOD +4.12 seconds, 20th in indexed time (4th autoX weekend on stock Goodyears)
June event: 2/114 raw time, TTOD +0.19 seconds, 2nd in indexed time (1st time on RE-71R)

The April and June events had TTOD set by the same driver, same car -- so relative to him, I gained 3.77 seconds with the RE-71Rs. That's roughly in line with the gain I've seen in the past switching from street tires to Hoosiers. So yeah, I can see how people make that comparison.

Looking forward to the next event!

Currently running DII*s & had to deal with the new Bridgestone shod competitors. Have to confirm the ad is true.

1st to 4th Pax times are run with the new Bridgestone.

RE71r are magic in the rain - my only two first place trophies this year came from rain events - 1st/21 and 1st/44 entries.
