Ok, my post above was trying to take the high road....

& I'm not usually one to throw stones,.... but that has got to be the most idiotic thing I've seen.

It's literally drawing hot air in from the engine bay, not to mention the directional flow with the fan as compared to the left side open intake in the airbox.

& to be a Cup Car driver, and then to say that he is guessing the previous owner probably thought that "anything Cup car is better",... would NOT be a reason to leave that on the car.

I am baffled. Tell me I'm wrong.

I agree, that’s why I asked about it in the auction. I’d love to have it done properly on my car, but that requires removing fan and customization of deck lid (or a Cup deck lid).

Agree it looks stupid to have a dual inlet airbox with the stock single intake decklid. At least the stock airbox is still available.

Agreed. I think post #5 and following is what it takes to do it properly: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...me-07-gt3.html

I had to see what got Steve so worked up, so I went and looked up the pic(s) of the engine bay. Yeah, that's a real head scratcher there...

Alternatively, you could go with Dundon’s dual cone single opening carbon airbox:

My guess would be the car had a Cup decklid installed at one point. Only thing that makes sense to me.

Hopefully an enthusiast got it rather than another dealer. But I suspect another dealer snatched it up and will flip it unfortunately.

2007 GT3. GT Silver. PCCBs. 35k miles. $125k. Has an accident report. According to Doug on 5/13/21 "That one was offered to us in 2019 right before Grand Prix Motors bought it. I don't have any specific details of the damage, but as described to us it was cosmetic damage only (e.g. no structural/tub damage) and it was owned by a body shop owner so supposedly was fixed well. But that's all second-hand knowledge. At that time the inspection showed a weeping RMS and a noisy RF ball joint. Looks like GP sold it and got it back on trade/consignment recently."
