I have to admit I was rooting for Jimmejak but snaveed got cojones and lots of $$$. Not a crazy price considering the condition and this crazy market but getting into crazy territory

the 997 gt3 market has been ruined by one guy. I am sorry this is ridiculous. And to top that, we will never see 5-6 of these cars (probably more since there will be others posted on BaT/PCAR) in the states again. I'll be honest I'm pretty pissed; as an owner this makes me more anxious about mine because it's value is through the roof now. I did not buy it with any intention of it being an investment. It has kind of ruined it for me which I never expected when I picked it up. Real shame that most people financially like me will not be able to get in one now. Sorry I don't mean to rant but this has been on my mind for a bit now.

It's not one guy. He's not bidding against himself. On all these sales, there were 2 or three other people bidding within a few thousand dollars of the final price and at least one other person within $1k.
I do fully agree that it's a huge loss if all these cars are going overseas. That means the likelihood of prices ever returning to more sane levels is very low since the supply is only getting smaller.

I feel the same way. Although, this won't prevent me from continuing to drive my car, A LOT! Maybe we need to create a "BaT for Enthusiasts" where dealers and investors are banned? :-)

The price difference between a 2k mile .1 RS and a 22k mile example is $100k+! Now that is mileage sensitive, which is a bummer.

Yes its a handful of guys and Snaveed is the king of them... The person who he was bidding against already has 3 other 997.1RS. I was bidding on the White .2 in Canada and I was bidding against 3 other members in this thread all who already have atleast 1 997 GT3 Variant, some with 2+... People can do whatever they want with their money but its a shame that you have a select few people gobbling up all of these to treat these as paperweights. Especially since the justification is always "tHe BeSt DriVeRs cAr EvAr"...

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the other bidders in the room were Shill, already owning these cars and just playing the game to inflate their value and their own confirmation biases.

That’s a bargain in my book.

$5/mile depreciation. Crazy. No wonder these cars are driven less and less.

@8Lug Not sure I follow the logic. Yes there were other bidders that had deep pockets, at least right up the the level of the final bid, and now those deep pockets stay in the market for the next one, and the one after that etc, until Snaveed bows out. So unless those deep pocketed competitors are looking at buying up multiples Snaveed style, them staying on the demand side of the line does jack prices up more than if he weren't in the picture, not to mention if some of those unfulfilled RS buyers then move to non-RS's. Demand isn't diminishing, likely going up as new demand comes in without old demand going out, and supply's reducing, so from my high school economics of supply constrained resources, the prices do have to go up till they reach a new supply/demand equilibrium?

snaveed has spent $2,736,000 on 16 cars (minus the bikes) since 6/13/21 on BaT.

Inventory or personal collection - anyone know?

You guys should feel lucky that these days it's super hard to register 997 gt cars in mainland china, other wise be prepared to see price goes to 400-500k easy.
