Wasn't sure if it was going to move much from $150 an hour before close. That's about what market value was a year ago as well.

I thought BaT was 5% fees? ... $176k sale + how many % pts for final buyer paid amount?
EDIT: .... Ahhh, I've been corrected that it is $5K, not 5%. Thanks Matt.

Also, while I am at it,... can someone explain whether BaT bidding (in its final minute stages) works similar to eBay in that if a bidder who currently has the highest bid decides to "up" his anty by "RE" bidding another higher amount, that amount is kept silent from the public UNTIL someone else decides to attempt bidding higher than what currently shows (& even then the eBay system only bumps it up by the default increase) ?

... or is every single bid action shown to the public?

just wondering how that part of the bidding works on BaT.
TIA

I assume buyer also has to pay applicable sales tax in their home state?

Steve every bid is seen and each time a bid comes in, I believe with less than 2 minutes left, 2 more minutes is added to bidding time. This avoids what i see people call "snipping". This gets maximum $$$ for the seller.

Depending where they take delivery of the vehicle...

If they take physical delivery in their home state and the asset seller includes transportation into final price = Pay Sales Tax in Home State
If they take physical delivery in state where Asset is listed or they pay seperately for Transportation = Pay Sales Tax in Asset Listing State

Its 5% of the listing up to $5K

There is no "Maximum Bid" function with BaT; whatever Bid is placed is the live bid...

Sure that's correct? I think it's sales tax where ever the car is actually registered, regardless of where they take delivery.

Correct. It’s quite something to watch. I was surprised to see bids were $1000 increments. Thought maybe they would be $500 at the end. Matt thought it might be a dealer? If so, you can bet we see that car for sale somewhere for $199K.

Not in Colorado or any other state I know of... You pay sales tax at your local city/county/state rate where you register the vehicle regardless of where purchased. And most other states do NOT get sales tax revenue for a vehicle sold out of state, transported or not. Some states/dealerships will collect and submit to your home state, some not. Either way, you pay your local rate.

Now California has some special used car sales tax rules, and unless you ship the vehicle out of state (and have a bill of lading to prove it), you MUST pay CA sales tax at delivery if purchased and delivered in CA. Most other states will then credit you this amount towards their taxes, but if the CA tax is higher than your local (which it often is), you get hosed. eg: Out of CA buyer cant do a fly-and-drive purchase from a dealer in CA without getting hosed on taxes (unless their local taxes are equally high).

I think Arizona also has some weird used car taxation rules as well...

Well that settled it. No way am I paying >2x my 996 GT3 for a 7.2 RS. Plus, I'd be half as likely to drive it and twice as likely to "collect" it. 1.5x, maybe and probably still no.

In general I think you are correct, but a different car on BaT, 2011 RS, sold for $175K today, that one was not soft at all.
EDIT
Maybe it was "soft", apparently the same car sold at gooding earlier this year for $190K + fees.

I agree with PFBZ for Colorado. My RS purchase was done through Doug in Ohio (car with in MN with Mr. Adair) and I payed the sales tax in CO when I registered it. Did not pay any other taxes.

Correct, there is no way the registering state you live in is not going to collect the tax at the time you get tabs. If there is a bill of lading and it shows a trade in it's just the balance between the two in MN.
