The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
#3271
I always joke with my car friends that Porsche guys bring paint meter tools and dme reports to cars and coffee so they can justify in their head how great each p car is. I love it when someone argues they don't want a sunroof because if the weight but they have never been to a racetrack and have no desire to (even in they do 95% wouldnt notice a difference)....
let me know if you have any recommendations.

Although rennlisters tend to be highly informed buyers, these cars also attract plenty of buyers who wouldn't know how to check blinker fluid.

currently deciding between 2 997.1 GT3s that are pretty different and priced about $15k apart.
1) Artic silver with black standard leather, sport chrono, Sound plus w/out PCM, Xenons, 12k mi - 5 owner, no records, no service history, etc.
2) Guards red with black standard leather as well, heated seats, PCCBs, sound plus w/ PCM, NO SPORT CHRONO and 50k mi., 2 owner (current owner has owned since 2009) and full records, no expense spared maintaining it.
Both have full front clip PPF and no paint work on either as far as i know. I really like both cars. If the red car has less miles, it would be a no brainer as i would prefer PCCBs, but Red and Silver are top choices of mine.
Any thoughts, direction, opinions would be appreciated!

That is not an easy choice. The question I would be asking is what your plan is with it? Miles were a deciding factor when buying mine. I wanted to be able to drive mine 2-4K miles a year, keep it for 5-7 years and then decide what I wanted to do from there. But I didn’t want to start with something with higher mileage so that I could put all of the miles on it. Some would say if you want to drive it, to get one with the higher miles, but I wanted to be able to sell it with less than 40k miles it I decided to do that. Not sure I will though. This car is like nothing else I have driven.
However, in your situation, I would be buying the 50k mile red PCCB car most likely. When I see that someone has owned a car for 10 years, has spared no expense, that is the kind of person I want to buy a car from. Just make sure it is priced accordingly and to still get a PPI. Just to make sure things don’t need replacement. Also check the PCCB’s specifically.
Condition is always the deciding factor for me. I don’t buy based on miles as much as condition. Also, number of owners is less of a concern. My car has had 5 owners. I am the 6th. Previous owner is a friend. Guy before him traded it on a 991 GT3. Guy before him on a 997.2 RS, guy before him not sure, and guy before him had it for 5 years or so then sold.
You may still be able to get service records if you can find out where it was serviced. Call them and see if they will send you records. Some dealers, will only send you a summary of what has been done. If it is a smaller city that it was registered just try finding the one Porsche shop and see if they have details on the car.
