The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

For only $20k more (with BaT fee), I would have bought Doug's white RS with similar mileage, non trashed rotors, full leather with deviated stitching and no (known at least) potential gearbox issues. The prior owner said steels were used for track but I'm guessing not exclusively. If I had to venture a guess, the car was tracked on PCCBs a few times by the original owner, they saw the wear and switched to steels after that. Street driven PCCBs don't look like that after only 36k miles unless they were using the wrong pad compound.

Here's what a wheel pic should look like compared to what RFM posted on that auction and that was the absolute best pic out of the bunch. That ad downplayed the shortcomings of that car except for the front bumper, which was to throw you off scent. Nothing about the rotors. Nothing about 1st gear. Nothing about the clutch. Don't know RFM and am not saying anything bad about the company but that auction was less than transparent.

If the release isn’t high and it doesn’t slip I’m not sure why someone would think there’s an issue with the clutch. I don’t know the car but it looked like it went into 1st pretty easy in that video. And knowing Ryan I’m sure he’d have had no issue taking some pictures of the rotors with a flash if asked early enough. Not here to bicker either I just don’t love the “less than transparent” comment because he’s truly one of the good ones.

Never disparaged the man or his company and find it honorable that you have his 6. The ad is what I questioned. Maybe one of his employees curated the ad and he didn't vet it. All I'm saying is that the pictures didn't tell the whole story and it was only when it was brought to attention that some of the blanks were filled in. You're selling a quarter mil car, you better bring your "A" Game if you want that high close. Appreciate the civil disagreements. They make for a productive discussion.

Also, Ryngfriendman are clearly clowns after trying to broker brokers and then bttch and moan then they don't sell....If there is that many hands in the pie to sell one car.....probably not going to do very well. They're buying publicly available cars and trying to re flip them, that's a WILD biz model.
I mean the fact RyamGfriedman responses to people on BAT were 12 paragraphs long is a red flag.

Saw this too, feel like these indy shops are running out of air. They seem to purchase more 997 GT cars than his.the actual public at this point and there seems to be almost no meat left on the bones these days. I assume as they lose their *** on a few more, they'll probably stop buying them.
This. Back in the days before BAT you could score deals on cars in your local/regional market and bring them to a more targeted audience like RL or Pelican. No auction fees, often times no taxes depending on where you were living, etc. I used to buy and sell a little as a hobby if I came across something off the radar but those days are pretty much gone . A few people, like Nathan at CVLC, still seem to find hidden gems.

There's a difference to me between dealers who bring off-market cars to market that they were able to get due to either fostering a positive prior relationship with that customer or their general reputation and those who buy up every publicly listed 997 GT car to re-list it for a higher price. The latter brings little to no value in my mind and as an enthusiast of these cars frankly it's a little annoying seeing cars get hot potato'd to the same 2-3 dealers over and over again.

I think most people buying these cars are just looking for transparency. I generally do, I bought my last car from switch cars and it couldn't have gone better. I've never dealt with Ryan Friedman but a few things make me thing he's a little slippery. He had a blue 996 gt3 he bought on BAT, in the comments everyone was throwing shade on a dealer buying it and he commented that he was going to be his personal car and it was a keeper. Two weeks later someone jumped on the comments on BAT on the closed sale and linked his for sale ad from his site of that car being flipped.
