Black on Orange BAT RS just sold for $177k... Curious if anyone thinks the paint issue held it back? It went +$17k from when the paint issue was discovered at ~$160k, and $177k is on the high-end of .1 RS's so my guess is it was a non-issue.

I was watching that auction, and I thought given the super low mileage (2,600) that $177k was cheap. The paint discovery must have held it back. I figured it would have been closer to the $200k mark being in such pristine condition otherwise.

I always have to roll my eyes when the 'owner was surprised to hear that the car had paint work' ... it's usually never truly the case ... don't buy a car without an inspection imo.

Such a low mileage car, 1 owner car, the widow might have not known it was painted but you can't tell me the selling dealer couldn't figure out it was painted. Apparently wasn't even a good paint job. Shady IMO but apparently the buyer/bidders didn't care and it sold for a very nice price.

I was randomly perusing craigslist and came across this 997.2 GT3 with a 6-speed. It seems like a pretty outstanding deal, so I figured I'd share the link here. I have done zero due diligence on this car and I'm not 100% familiar with the GT3, so who knows what drawbacks this car might have. It might even be a scam, but I think it's worth checking out at least for those interested.

I think the Black 997.2 is anscam, I wrote to him and this the reply I received which in my book usually means it's a scam.

Hi, I am unable to see your message. If you are interested in my GT3 please email me using my work email below to coordinate further.

Regards,
Mark

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...ctid=838060118

And there's this one which has been for sale for a couple years now.

Where the ad says "Original - no mods", he is obviously forgetting to mention the fact that the car used to be Guards Red. He had it repainted after delivery.

Not to mention garbage ad photos. Do you know the reason for repaint? Strict color change or damage?

The story he told me was that he didn't want to pay the exorbitant price Porsche wanted at the time for a PTS color (Although Ruby Red wasn't PTS on the 997.2 GT3, so....), so he ordered a Guards Red and then had it repainted. The logic didn't make sense to me.

You really couldn't take much worse photos than he did for that ad too, shameful!

To be fair, I know of another 997.2 GT3 that was repainted for the simple fact that the owner wanted a different colour. Doesn't make sense to me either, but it's not my car or money so my opinion is irrelevant.

Doug or anyone else, how many cars do you know about that were repainted with color change by choice/not damage, and what did that do to price? I'm sure there won't be many of these, but I am curious.
