That's gonna hurt resale value. This just confirms that being a beta tester is not a great idea.

A humbling experience for a company showing so much hubris. I doubt it will change their marketing behavior, but at least the current owners do not have the fear that they have an unacknowledged problem with their cars. My ownership of BMWs has seen several forced recalls by the US government/legal pressure after years of denying there was a problem. (DCT lag issue in the E90M3 and engine-kaboom problems on the E46).

997 cars were indeed probably the best ones design wise of everything Porsche has built before production cost reduction became their primary objective. It is sad but it goes along with what those times are about. Engineers can only do so much to accommodate idiots from the management office. They were told to make a cheaper to make car that would be assembled on the same conveyer belt with street cars - well, so you got one. Enjoy.

Here you go fresh off the press
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/porsch...155858262.html
Atlanta. The sports car producer Porsche is inspecting all engines of 911 GT3 vehicles of model year 2014. Porsche is informing the owners of the affected vehicles directly and recommending that they stop using their vehicles. The company is offering to pick up the vehicles and take them to a Porsche Centre immediately.
Safety is a number one priority at Porsche, and the company takes its responsibility seriously. After engine damage occurred in two vehicles in Europe and the vehicles then caught fire. Porsche decided to inspect all 785 delivered vehicles worldwide. There was no traffic accident and no personal injure. Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet.
Porsche will report on any new findings immediately.

Not good for the retail of these things.... Once they get it sorted a lot of customers with deposits will have moved on.
With all the testing they did on these last year you think they would have figured this out.
Goes to show that the engine in the motorsports program should be in the street car program.
Until the Cup car goes DFI, i am not even looking at a 991GT3.
I am not sure how i would feel if i Owned a 991GT3 right now....

The problem is a faulty tube link between the oil cooler and the engine according to reports on the 991 side...![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
ok so our 997s did not catch fire but leaked coolant all over the place causing crashes etc and we could not get attention....pityful

My father spent 50 years in the car industry across nearly all the main stream car suppliers here in Australia since the 50's and he always stated
"Never buy the first generation of any production model. (FULL STOP) If you must let your heart rule your head, wait until the first 12 months so that all significant recall/redesign issues are generally observed and corrected."
This latest issue for the 991 GT3 though, clearly something changed in production worst of all some bolts that was never given the QA process that the original assembly design had been through.. Shame on Porsche for that.
