I was just thinking about this last night. No one has mentioned that I recall but...what are they going to do regarding the electronic E-Brake on the 991 GT3?
You'd think they would have to follow the 991 Carrera and Panamera center console or develop a completely new setup.

Wait for the backlash if/when they fit an 'interior sound enhancing device' in the GT3, as is on the current 991 models...

The fastest posted 997.2 GT3 Ring time is 7:40 and the 997.2 GT3/RS is 7:33. so it's not like a 7:34 is crap to begin with, even though it's very likely not representative of the best that a 991 GT3 will be able to do.
Reality check complete. Back to regularly scheduled negative, doom and gloom programming.........

A few posts back, pictures were posted of 991 GT3 mules running around on 20" P Zero's not MPSC's. I've read elsewhere that the 991S that did a 7:37.9 was on MPSC's. Was the GT3 at the Ring on 20" SC's? Is there even such a thing yet? Who was driving? What were track conditions? Was it an official Porsche test? Lot's of questions, as with everything else on this subject, but don't let that keep anyone from continuing to predict that the sky is falling.

But on the same tires, it needs to be at least 1 second faster around the tracks we usually drive, otherwise there's nothing one can point to for the reason the car is uncomfortable. More than 1 second on our short tracks is probably like more than 5 seconds (again on similar tires) on the ring.

As for the laptime, if true, its sad... I'd expect a 5-7 second improvement from the chassis alone as per every previous GT car and then a further 4-5 from the "benefits" of the pdk... If this car isn't doing 7.30 or less, that is a poor result for the "advances" introduced IMO...
FYI... eVen the Carrera S made a 12 sec gain from 997.2 to 991 (pdk and MPSC) on both... If that wasn't a typo that should have read 7.24 then its going to be a **** result...

All good points. The 991 S is so much better than the 997 that, imho, a 991 S wil 460+ hp, better aero, less sound deadening, stiffer suspension, and lighter weight would make a fine GT3. (basically please make it faster and more uncomfortable, the 991 S is too comfortable, in all seriousness).

With the greatest of respect Mike, a gt3 doing hot or cold testing doesn't need to be on MPSCs thus why the mules are prancing around on Pzeros... You can bet your bottom dollar that the cars setting lap times at the NBR will be on MPSC or Trofeo... You don't believe that Porsche would run a CS on cups and their track car on streets do you?

It's no more than an X51....... with a GT3 badge on it.

What do you mean was it an official Porsche test? Who else is going to test a car that hasn't even been revealed yet and then release times on it? Hasn't one of the higher ups already said the car would be about as fast as the 3.8 RS? That's still a fail relative to the 991S no matter how you look at it..........

But let's assume the unlikely possibility that 7:34 is the best a 991 GT3 can do. That's also almost identical to the best a 997 GT3/RS can do. If that time makes the 991 GT3 a fail relative to the 991S, doesn't that mean the RS is a relative fail too?

Hmmm...how best to describe this thread.
1. Much Ado about Nothing
2. A Comedy of Errors
3. As You Like It
4. Love's Labour's Lost
5. All's Well that Ends Well...
or
6. Tempest (more likely storm in a teacup)
With sincere apologies to the Bard.
