I hear you mate but they have about 20 other 911 variants to f%#k up for the purposes of attracting new customers. Why would you take the only two models enthusiasts target and mess with them? Most wanna-be possers switching to the brand would much prefer a cushy 911 turbo, lots of power and comfy as a cayenne in ride quality... Slam some 22" wheels and a hardcore aero kit on that car and job done, haha

New GT3 VS C2S = Z51Corvette VS C7.

It should not be called the GT3 but GTS X51.

To many ifs. I can't beleive such a call was sanctioned. It creates more questions than answers. I'll wait.

Yeah, except you get a true dry sump with the Z51 package (for just a few $k)

I'm trying to understand how it will be any different than a 991 Carrera S with Aero kit...joking of coarse but slightly concerned.

20" Center Lock wheels too...yet still only a 305 rear? At least the front tires look to retain a somewhat modern RS 245 section.

The Pzeros are why the car doesn't have a great Ring time. 5 seconds faster then the 991S using the same tires is fast. Put 19" MS cups from the 997 GT3 on it and it will be another 5 sec quicker.

245 is standard width for 991 20" front wheels

According to this article/post, it seems GT3 will continue with the Mezger block. Other things seems to coincide with the what was posted in the this thread - 450HP and 7:34 lap time.

Oh, well, I guess we will know in a month's time.

No, I was being serious, and I agree with you. Bling and pretentious showboating for the cars & coffee poofs. Very disappointing IMO if this comes to pass.

It will have centrelocks that snap off and give you GT3 cup car running costs thanx to its hub maintenance schedule! Haha....

I agree with VR. Porsche is losing the magic they created with the GT3. My guess is that the original 996 GT3 was created with a lot of input from motorsport enthusiast engineers to homologate the race cars and inadvertantly became a big sales hit. Once that happened the marketing people got control of planning for the model and adapted (softened) the car to increase sales. This included adding the electronic nannies, sunroof for the non RS.

Fact is they succeeded with the 997.1 GT3 and RS so management is letting marketing run with the GT3's future, not the motorsports folks. How else to explain the centerlock fiasco? Nobody would put them on a street/track car unless they just wanted the visual connection to race cars and didn't do the homework to understand why they are not a good choice for most GT3 owners.

991 GT3 = Complete Fail if those specs are correct.

The only way they could redeem themselves from this would be with a flat 8 ready in time for the RS. Would still make the 991.1 GT3 the most unauthentic phony GT3 ever. NOT A GT3!

I was just thinking about this last night. No one has mentioned that I recall but...what are they going to do regarding the electronic E-Brake on the 991 GT3?

You'd think they would have to follow the 991 Carrera and Panamera center console or develop a completely new setup.

Saw this from Macca...It doesn't look good.
