for those of of you waiting for another event at COTA this Spring - tough cookies. COTA is booked. We took the last open dates they had. Maybe next fall they will have something. You want to run COTA anytime soon, this is your last shot.

This is a FACT directly communicated to me by COTA. COTA had Feb 4-5 and these days available, and that is it before the end of May (when it gets very hot). We took the March date, and I am sure by now the Feb date is taken.

This will be a HPDE?
Mentioned to the wife last night ... road trip!
Thanks

Great work Clarke and VR! I want to sign up for this for sure but things last week changed with a few of the lines I rep (possibly for the good but need to see how things shake out) so I'm in limbo for a few weeks right now.
It would be a long drive from Tampa to COTA in the "wanna be gt3".

I spent all day yesterday painstakingly studying detailed site maps for each corner, reviewing selected videos and having my simulation driving client burn through more than two tanks of gas driving around COTA in a Viper ACR-X (similar to his Z-06). This is going to be a great challenge for folks to do well...
Matt's driving is good (and entertaining), but shows up the great challenge people are going to have driving this course.
First, you're going to need to realize that some of these corners are VERY slow in a street car, even a very high performance street car. People are going to have a very hard time stringing laps togethers in two separate, multi-corner complexes, let alone a few tough, individual corners.
Heck, Lewis Hamilton does only 43 mph vMin in T1 and T20 and only 37 mph at T11 IN HIS FORMULA ONE CAR. So what does that mean for you? It means PATIENCE and first things, first. GET the car TURNED.
Second, it's going to be tough deciphering the sight lines to identify with certainty and without delay or hesitation the corners you are approaching, because several entries look very similar with DIFFERENT outcomes and topography! Best part is that it's going to be tough to hit anything. (There, I've said it!)
Lastly, the car behavior in the sim is good enough so you can hear the tires yell according to the speed and topography of the track (reflecting grip level) and the times are near exact match with recorded data from real cars. John did over two hundred miles yesterday virtually and he had a pretty good rhythm by the end. He was up nearly a second over his best (as indicated on the predictive lap timing in the sim) when he ran out of gas between T19-T20 on a 2:22 lap. Pretty stout!
One of the reasons why this track is so cool is because it's HARD! The challenge to learn it, let alone come close to mastering it, is extreme and sure to draw folks for a long time.
I will be supporting this event, tentatively, as the newest "Preferred Technology Partner" of David Murry Track Days.
If you wish to purchase (or rent, subject to availability) a video/data logging system from Traqmate/GoPro/RePlay HD or Video VBOX Lite or AiM Solo DL and SmartyCam HD or MoTeC CDL, let me know and we can set that up. I offer training, as part of coaching reservations, to divine from your existing video/data logging system where you can safely go faster.
Of course, David Murry is available throughout the event for expert, pro driver review of your video and data, from whatever system you have.
I also have the most detailed notes and pre-event training plan to help my clients hit the ground running for this event. If you're interested in leveraging the terrific track time available at DMTD, I can help.

Sounds intense and awesome all at once. Reminds me back at Ft. Bragg when you tried to do as many jumps in one day as you could get in a C130.
(btw biggest thrill you can have without taking your pants off)![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)
I guess that's worth the $900 bucks and the 1,400 mile trip.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
How many cars at once on the track?
