The 996 hit the guardrail on the left side of turn 4 pretty hard. I didn't see it happen but it was sitting in the paddock afterwards. It looked like a write off to me, but hopefully not.
I saw the aftermath of the Viper as well, but the damage look pretty light. Front end had a few cracks in it.
Aside from a few incidents, what a fun weekend! I'll post some videos up later with a more detailed recap. Best I could manage on Michelin Pilot Super Sports was a 2:34.x. I was working on a 2:33 according to my predictive lap timer but I ran into traffic at turn 19. Most folks were on race rubber from what I could tell.

And you had to cope with a South African, a New Zealander and today a Brit ... now that must be the start of a joke ....

I have video of some hack in a CRX on street tires doing a low 2:33 that I'll post up in a bit. Same car was ******* the Deputy for most of same session. Lots of video evidence of Dog displaying that big slip angle form.

Add in one M3 later today. Extensive left side body damage, but probably not totaled. Brake failure. It was a borrowed car and had pro instructor (Skeen). Turn 11.

It was a fantastic weekend, low in the 50's, and high around 70-75.
We also got the share the garage with the owner of a 2005 997 Supercup car, and his instructor Shane Lewis. Shane Lewis drove the car one session, he did 1:22 in a very prestine borrowed collectable.
My best lap was 2:40.6, I hoped to break 2:40, maybe next time. It is my third DE event in this car, got it in Dec. and my 7th DE overall. No excuse here, stating facts (hehe) I was also driving on street tires, AD08, but not as skilled as the driver in the CRX.
Bad resolution due to me taking photo off the computer review screen, better qualities to come when the CD arrives.

The two long straights are balanced by the highly technical esses (irregular radii, on/off camber, blocked visuals, etc.) and the tight double 180's (13-15)followed by huge triple apex increasing radius sweeper (16-18). Well driven handling cars pick up tons of time in those sections, while the big power guys take charge on the two big straights.
I ran 2:33 in the CRX (210 hp, 1900 lbs) on Hankook RS-3's and 2:35's in my 7.2 GT3 on MPSS. The CRX did 135 mph on the back straight while the GT3 topped 150. Different solutions to the same problem.

I normally wouldn't comment on things like this, but I noticed the same thing. Whoever was in that car pulled up almost next to me on a yellow flag lap, starting weaving back and forth to get my attention (I saw him coming already), and started honking at me to give him a passing signal. I refused because we were under yellow.
