I agree with Peter....especially on the re-gear, lwfw, some pro level coilovers, remove stereo, lightweight carpet and lexan windows.

With a .1 GT3 that has a sunroof I can understand considering going thru all this "surgical intervention" on the roof.
With a non-sunroof GT3/RS frankly I do not see the significant advantage and expense, especially having to add weight with a more extensive rollcage.
The CF roof piece is approx $1,500 but what are the total costs with labor?
IMHO remove the rear glass window (approx. 21 lbs) and put in a lexan window (approx. 4 or 5 lbs) for much less expense overall.
Drawback is they do scratch easily.

Peter went thru a good list of weight losing efforts to consider.

I already ordered the row oem metal roof. It's super cheap.

Don't need lightweight carpet as I'm going to just take all the carpet put :-)

Ill do the lwfw when my clutch is smoked. No point in ripping all that out now.

Re gear and new suspension is about 12k.

Taking that first 100 pounds out felt like it added 50hp. I'll see if can get another 100 and maybe hit the treadmill while I'm at it :-)

I was talking to someone who races a 500k car with 300hp. A ligher car is easier on consumables as well, fewer break*jobs, less tires etc. and the car is faster everywhere too.*

Simply put ... weight is the enemy.

Talk to Matt @ GT about a 4.0 Ring and Pinion, and a replaced LSD. Do the flywheel and Clutch sooner then later, why wait for the clutch to go, it will cost you at least one fun day at the track. Go ***** Deep, or buy a race car and sell your street machine.

Yeah, but how often does anything come into contact with it to cause a scratch? Unless you have a cat or something... Don't see how it would be an issue. A no-brainer, imo.

LWFW and R&P would get you improved acceleration for substantially less than regearing the box.

Akrapovic Evoloution.. 57lbs less at the most critical part of a 911..
More than half of the weight you already shaven off
Along with the light weight carpet and roof you will have a 200 pound lighter car along with a lighter wallet..

Just adding that this is a great thread, I'm always looking for ways to take some lbs out of my car.

Sadly mine is more street car than track car so alot of these mods mentioned I just can't bring myself to do, still fun to see what can be done to shed weight.

This should be a no greater than $500 item from Porsche Motorsport.

Already have a diff from Matt at guard. Agreed on clutch replacement at some point. Mine still feels very strong (knock on wood).

Already did the RPW M&M deal. I think it takes almost 40 off if I remember our calculations correctly. I do remember feeling like an idiot standing in Izzone's garage holding exhaust parts and using his bathroom scale.
