Auto Motor und Sport might disagree but I get your point. This wasn't a feature story just a quick blurb with a photo as part of a "what's new in 2013" web article, so I'm wondering if it's just some junior writer's guess. I'm probably too cynical....we'll know for sure in a couple of months.

Not sure where you found the "confirmation" that it will have the pdk optional
Not sure if I am missing something, but this is what I found;
The last line only states that a pdk is available, no mention if it is an option, or if it is the only transmission available
And this article was from 11/30/12

So, how will it be possible to select the PDK option if the first iteration of the 991 GT3 still has the Mezger... or is that just for the cups in 2013?
Reply to self: I guess it means that the cup gets the Mezger and the street version gets the 9A1.

Original article from Auto Bild:
"...ist der 911 GT3 so etwas wie die letzte Bastion der Porsche-Puristen. Zudem können die Gusseisernen Aufatmen: Die Doppelkupplung wird nur optional angeboten, die Handschaltung stirbt also (noch) nicht aus. Im Sommer 2013 röhrt der GT3 mit 450 PS los..."

The picture used in that small piece dates back around 12 months and was produced in an EVO magazine. I suspect you will find the direct translation indicates only that there will likely be a PKD variant, noting more.
I believe the data points previously discussed to still hold true (PDK, 9A1, 450bhp, 1370kg, 8800+rpm redl line etc). The only data point that had surfaced that was no my original list was the C4S wide body shell. The photographs make it hard to determine without a production C4S nearby the mule to make comparison. There has also been mention of the 4WS in various threads but not sure if its based on any facts.
My thoughts on 4WS are the same as PDK - that if Porsche offer these in the 991 GT3 they will be as standard equipment and only 4WS if it helps with Ring times. This isnt a car they will offer options on that make you go slower than the factory claims. Its Porsches 50th anniversary of the 911 in 2013, so I wouldn't be surprised if the 991 GT3 (which will be their only "enthusiast orientated" delivered product in 2013) isnt a technical powerhouse and a game changer on a number of levels. After all with an expected 15% hike in base price before tax we would expect nothing less!

This is what's been spread on German Porsche forums / message boards as well...and the text from "Auto Bild" translates into the PDK being an option. ("lieferbar" = available but not the only choice)

I think we'll see a couple neat tricks on this car.
4-wheel steering and active aero?
I haven't seen much mention of an adjustable Gurney flap? Is that what I see in these pictures?

Burning Brakes
I am sure this car will be nothing short of a marvel, but I really hope they do not take the driver out of the car. We need a purist car and there are not many of those left.
