Turbo's and GTS have Center Lock option...so I wonder which CL's Porsche is now putting on these cars?

They messed it up during R&D and now they are trying to repeat it with this "recall" of "central bolts".

It requires a hefty dose of incompetence in many levels to appear so amateurish when you are one of the leading manufacturers of sport cars in the world.

yup, pointed that out in my previous post - I assume that they will have put the newer nuts on once those came into production - a simple look at the latest PET will clarify.

I'm not sure if there is a real problem or not John. I know many guys running real hard with the centerlocks - no issues. I'm still confused about this. If there was an issue would it not be worldwide ?. I'm sure there are more Lawyers in the US than elsewhere. You would think they would start here where there is the greatest liability.

Gofishracing...yep a few of those guys like Trakcar, Izzone, Mooty, Savyboy are on this forum and to my knowledge have not had any problems witht he CL's at track events.

I see a lot of new GT3 and GT3RS with CL's at DE's and never have seen any issues with the CL's.

Everyone is aware at this point you would think. It's a wait and see. Even the terribly bumpy Pocono didn't loosen any centerlocks this last weekend on the 997 GT3's.. Go figure.

Clearly if PCGB and some other regions are replacing the nuts, there is an issue, since there are no regional parts this is a global production issue with all GT3/RS variants, and perhaps also GTS, Turbos, and Spyders so equiped!

Why PCNA have not yet instituted a recall yet is a mystery. The abscence of any issues being detected by our august tracking community is not a measure of the presence, absence or severity of any problem, simply good luck/statistics at work to their benefit.

My "guess" is that at the lower torque setting there is a chance of loosening and resulting damage to the red "locator" pins on the hub; further I imagine that at a higher torque there are perhaps issues with seizing and/or nut assy damage, hence the bulletin regarding the torque/lub procedure and the subsequent part replacement and recall (in some regions)

I doubt that Porsche would go to the trouble of recalling (when they do everywhere) the global community of these nuts if there was not a reasonable probability that some failure mode exists. Mooty et al are merely lucky/benificaries of probability/MTTF ...

My red nubs look fine.

NO! (you are kidding right?) ... you could seriously damage the nut, your wheel, or the hub assy by over torquing the nut assy, in some cases where it
would fail catastrophically under dynamic load on the track.

I kid, but I did once mega torqued one thinking I was undoing it, but tightened it enough to breake the tool that comes with the car. You shouldda seen my torque wrench bend.. I know, I know, I should really stick to driving the car....
