I mean, as an owner, as much as I love to see values go up, I really hope they don't get anywhere close to that ask

Just means more people will start viewing them as collectibles and not as the amazing driving machines they are.

Plus, as a financial markets guy who trades in very illiquid instruments, I find this behavior puzzling. GP bought it at a great price. The "right" thing to do is price it at a fair (not aspirational) level and then try to sell quickly, even if leaving some money on the table. It benefits GP in the long run to turn inventory, and actually sell "rare" cars. Makes it easier to source and sell more GT2's in the future.

My friend was looking at one of their 997 C4S (Macademia Brown) they were asking 59k for on their main website. At the same time there was a Craigslist ad for 55k, same car but showed the ad was 20 days old. He called them up and was willing to pay the 55k Craigslist price and the sales guy said the 55k was a mistake and they're pretty firm at 59k cause he's got lots of calls on it and a client of his was likely going to buy it within the next week. This was back in July. That car is still listed for sale on their website Today...almost 5 months later

I don’t believe we have seen any publicly disclosed sales of US Spec 7GT2s since the Summer.

Seeing what has happened to 3RS and CGT values in the time since, this might not be so crazy an ask.

Audentes fortuna juvat.

This car was on Auto-trader. I was in communication with the owner to buy it at asking price at $179k, we had a deal and planned to leave 6AM the next morning to purchase it from him face to face in the Hamptons NY where he resided. He called us at 630AM when we were on the way saying he agreed to take $190k from someone else, he would not even give me the opportunity to match the $190k which was disappointing.

That's really disappointing. While the price at 179k or 190k would've been great, there is no excuse for the lack of integrity.

With so few examples built PLUS nearly zero for sale it's easy to see how the market can be reset quickly. And I'd take 348k for mine lol

That is pretty scummy and possibly illegal. Do you have in writing that he accepted the deal with you and later sold it from under you? Text messages, email, etc.

certainly sounds like breach of contract. I would guess that there was something like “subject to inspection” and dealer bought as is unseen. But maybe not.
Easy to prove damages if it sells for 350.

Best thing to do when us members are ready to sell our cars, is to list them, wait for Grand Prix or another douchbag dealer to call us with their buy it now price, then adjust our price accordingly and still sell to a private party.

Default Looking: 997 GT2 other than black

I’m new to the market and looking for a GT2 in pretty much any color other than black (living in FL). Was considering a 997tt, but I think a GT2 would be a better fit. Anything off-market available, or coming available in the near future?

My offer for $179k was real and not subject to inspection / PPI or any nonsense, but it is what it is, I don't think there are any legal grounds against the seller nor would I even pursue anything. All that was wasted is some of my time, effort, and excitement of acquiring another GT2.

Can’t imagine the ask on this white GT2 based on what All Things Porsche asks for their cars and what others on the market are asking.

Carrara White is one of my favorite colors for the 997 GT2 along with probably Speed Yellow, but I like all the available colors on these cars. Well probably not so much Nordic Gold or Ruby Red.
