Default New GT2

I am the one who bought the GT2 on BAT... I had been eyeing it all week and ended up spending a bit more than I thought it would go for... but it checked most all the right boxes for me. As Bruce Canepa says " don't look at it like you paid too much today, look at it as you got in early" . I do think that the 997 GT2 is somewhat under the radar today, and that will most likely change, especially well taken care of low mile examples.. Looking forward to getting here in Utah for some great open road and canyon drives.

has anyone successfully imported a car like this and just sit on it till it hits 25
year? Can you have engine and transmission pulled and shipped separately as parts.

Thought about this too. US buyers willing to pay quite a bit more for these cars than our European counterparts. Much, much more for the 2RS here than in Europe. Reality is you cant legally import any of these for 9 more years or so. Lets say you buy a few now. You would have to store them in Europe or maybe Canada or another permissive country for more 9 years before you can legally and properly bring them into the US.

Next question, can we assume that in 2033 the RoW spec cars will be valued equally here in the US compared to US spec cars? I could be wrong but I believe the answer to that is most likely not. Take a look a the BaT results for the 930 Turbo. A casual clicking around on the chart seems to indicate that the Euro / RoW cars have brought consistently less than their US spec counterparts:

Anyone else have the impression that Racedeck got a smoking deal on that car? I mean, the thing has 3800 miles and is a pretty good spec, and obviously super clean! At $341k seems like a steal. Perhaps there is hope for me after all, when that accident-damaged car with 60k miles come up next! Given this result and the smattering of mid-200k BAT results for "moderate" mileage cars, I'm going to continue to keep my fingers crossed!

agree on row vs usa But if you can pick up sub 150s probably cannot lose. My curiosity is can a nonrunning car be imported for parts. Then ship drivetrain later….my brain wheels are spinning. I miss my 09

Simple solution = pay the premium for a US car
Sensible solution = put the $$$ to work and buy a US car in < 9 years

Rennlist solution = buy EU car, disassemble it, ship car and engine separately, then let the car sit for 9 years, then figure out how to tell the government that the parts car you imported isn’t actually a parts car anymore 🤣.

can’t knock the creativity though hahaha

One would have to assume the first digit in the asking price is a 3, if not a 4.

I was thinking 4 if not 5! Merit is not shy with their ask number on these nicely spec'd cars. It is gorgeous though...

The yellow car is mega!!
I'd imagine 350-400k USD at least.

Regarding RoW cars, I'm in Canada and awaiting the arrival of my GT2 Clubsport.

So my Speed Yellow with buckets should be in the 6's???!!! J/K

I really like the yellow painted interior (mine was optioned with CF everywhere) and have toyed with the idea of replacing the CF with painted trim....my OCD about keeping it factory original keeps me from pulling the trigger....and now, banana phone paranoia!
