Cup cables are fantastic in feel and precision but they ARE NOT a direct plug and play fit with any of the shifters from 996/997 gt3. You need the shifter and connecting joints or you need your workshop to use cut and paste skills.
The cup shifter with cables is indestructible..
the mod adds some vibration and has longer throws which people with the 997 shifter might find unacceptable.

i did cup cables in my 996-3 without cup shifter... maybe my tech did the "cut and paste"
I have a set of cup cables inbound for my 997.1 RS as well... plan on using stock shifter and hopefully the cut and paste will work again.

Yes its no big deal the attachment joints are different. That's all.
A good shop can do it, if you go to dealer and they follow the manual, they 'll say it won't fit.

Also you may want to use number 11 bracket as the cables are fatter on the underside.
These parts apparently are not a must have, as I see here on Rennlist a lot of shops manage to do it by reusing oem cables brackets and parts but I can't verify the quality of the job done or how exactly they do it, so its up to you.

6-CUP shift cables are a direct bolt in, as long as you have all the parts. There are no modifications needed. They do not come with the 2 joints and connecting studs at the shifter (that's were people get confused??). They work great with all shifters as long as they are set up right. Best bang for the $$$$$$ IMHO

You guys read my mind. Will 6 Cup car cable fix the notorious 2nd to 3rd gear problem? Sometimes I can't get into 3rd gear from 2nd under high engine load. How much does all the parts cost?

shifter either you go the short shifter from the 997/997gt3 or the 996 cup shifter or keep yours.
cables 300 euros
shifter 400 euros
