Sometimes I can't get into 3rd gear from 2nd under high engine load.
Mikymu, maybe engine mounts are a better solution, but I think you might have those already installed?
Do you feel a difference in 2-3 shifts?

Another RL had the Cup cables installed, but he said it was not worth the money and extra noise for the maybe bit better feel.

^ mike has engine mount.

mike, take your damn right hand off the shifter and either put it on the steering wheel or on your own stick. this way by the time you got to the shifter it would slow down your shifting and you will find gears.

i always had issues 2-3, then my mechanic who's 4-5 seconds faster than me going at his 8/10 proved to me time and time again, it's ME not the shifter. he never had shifting issue in my car. told me if i dont slow down and use less force, i will destroy the box, engine mount, tranny mount and the engine. and mike shifts much faster than harder than me!

I recently had the Cup Shifter Assembly and Cup Cables installed. The shift problem from 2-3 is gone but the new cables transmit more noise into the cabin. There is a mechanical noise from the gears that noticeable during each shift; which I like. What I was not expecting was a high pitched sound like the faint whine of a supercharger. I do not know what part in the transmission is causing this noise.

Of course, I may have a dog's hearing, no one else seems to find the sound objectionable.
Everyone that has driven my car says the same thing, "This is how these cars are supposed to shift!"

yes like going mono-ball and then complain about the noises.
vibration is normal there is no rubber left on the link and selector; I can't hear it but then again im almost deaf.
i never had trouble 2 to 3 even before the cables.
but maybe an adjustment would help or to check the mounts of the gearbox.

Thanks John! Just preparing my wish list for my car and when it's time I will definitely ask for your assistance. Right now, I still haven't driven the car as much as I want so I can't really tell if I need to upgrade anything yet.

What exactly is this 2nd to 3rd shift problem? I only noticed mine being notchy when I had a lot less miles on it. Now that I have over 5K miles on the car, as soon as the transmission is warmed it shifts smooth as butter and with rifle bolt precision. I have no issues at all shifting from 2nd to 3rd. The only thing I can thing of is it is a transmission torquing issue. Since I have PDEM, I won't get the drivetrain whip the non-PDEM cars have.

I have WEVO ss mounts and I still get what Mikymu describes on the track... which is frustrating when you loose serious momentum making several attempts to engage 3rd gear on a rapid upshift portion of the track....

Thanks. On the RS it is better then on the MKI GT3, so I assumed it was the DEM's.

Cables may be one approach, although this is sounding cumbersome. But I am still curious what the result of the B&M shifter would be on the MK1 GT3s. I personally hate the stock throw on my 08 GT3, I loved the B&M on my 99 C2 notchy or not (which mine was not BTW). Anything has to be better than the stock feel of a GT3. Again to the original question, has anyone tried a B&M on a MK1 GT3?
