Yep, I got the same email alert this morning. 90k is out of my comfort zone, however.

Yeah, those miles certainly aren't for everyone, but I bet someone will be comfortable with it and jump all over this one at that price...

There are cheaper .1S cars out there with fewer miles but if it in fact has a .2 motor that would add some value. Otherwise, you'd have to really want the PCCBs and GT2 bumper to pay a premium.

I do wonder about the 'Bonus - Porsche factory crated motor replacement at 30k miles. 997.2 motor' part though.

Launch editions came with 996 carry-over M96 engines. If it blew up at 30K miles, you would think it would have been replaced with a M97 engine, NOT a 997.2 DFI engine. Different ECU, wiring harness, exhaust, intake system, & more would make installing a DFI engine in a 997.1 a serious bit of work and expense. My guess is he is confusing the upgraded M97 engine with a DFI engine?

I also put zero premium on a launch edition 997... In fact I personally avoid them due to the M96 engine, which I suppose is moot in this case.

Not a good deal. Suspension and body mods, replaced engine are concerns and it's still priced high ($45K) for a 997.1. Also has a lot of mistruths (doesn't have "every option"; that is impossible), PCCB weren't $18K IIRC, etc.

How would you even do that? Completely different ECU, DME, CAN etc. Christ, the wiring alone....

He probably thinks that an updated IMS bearing engine = .2

Yep. That or he is related to the person who spent a fortune to install a central driver's
seat in a Carrera Cabriolet.

IMHO, Denver Craigslist seems to be the home of 'optimistically priced' 911's of all generations... Frequently mid and high mileage cars priced as if they were low mileage garage queens, tiptronics priced as if they were manuals, etc.

I'm considering making an offer on the launch edition car near me.

Though I'd love some opinions on the DME report:

Number of ignitions at speed > maximum speed, range 1 2406
Number of ignitions at speed > maximum speed, range 2 201
Number of ignitions at speed > maximum speed, range 3 13
Number of ignitions at speed > maximum speed, range 4 1
Number of ignitions at speed > maximum speed, range 5 1
Number of ignitions at speed > maximum speed, range 6 0
Operating hours counter reading at overspeed, range 1 652.900 h
Operating hours counter reading at overspeed, range 2 652.900 h
Operating hours counter reading at overspeed, range 3 652.900 h
Operating hours counter reading at overspeed, range 4 484..900 h
Operating hours counter reading at overspeed, range 5 484.900 h
Operating hours counter reading at overspeed, range 6 0.000 h
Operating hours counter 653.400 h

Under 23k miles on the odometer.
Should I walk away?

That car is fine, but driven hard recently. Test drive over-revs.

That's a clean DME report... Barely hit the rev limiter, no money shifts.

I've never heard of it being done but it's probably possible with a ton of work. One would need some serious documentation from Porsche, the new engine serial number, etc before proceeding.
