I wish more folks who are subscribed on this thread would participate and not just lurk. If you don't want to post findings in your area then at least post an ad from different location to help others in here who are searching for the right 997. There are tons of subscribers but only a handful ever post.

Clear coat
Just took a look at an 07 c2s. It clearly had some paint work done (front and rear bumpers and gas cap), but just behind both doors, where the rubber meets the paint (where the yellow arrow is pointing), it looks as if the clear coat is peeling. It was just a one inch by 1/4 inch strip, but it was on both sides. Does this mean that the entire car had been resprayed? Thanks for the help.

Most folks are looking for 997.2’s at this point, and imho some great deals have been posted lately.

I know the 997.2 has the new design DFI engine and a better car but there's a premium price attached. My wife is already on my case about getting a 997.1 and if I get the 997.2 she will go bizerk!

Just wanted to have a discussion about the pros and cons of the 997.1. I personally am staying away from the 05' unless I have plans to upgrade the IMSB. After much research on the 06-08 I am not afraid of the IMS fiasco. A thorough PPI to make sure the core engine is solid and you're good to go. The only concern I have is in the long run say 10 years from now will people frown upon them due to the present of the IMSB....? I'm planning to keep my 911 for a long time.

Both are fantastic cars, but I do agree. The 997.2 took what I would already consider a perfect car and made it more reliable. People on here can actually argue why a 997.2 is better over a 991.1 or why a 991.1 is better than a 991.2 (if you want an NA engine), but I dont think there is much to be argued for in the 997.1 over the 997.2, except for the fact that it is more fully depreciated. Oh and to anyone that has a 997.1, you have an amazing car, especially since they are fully depreciated more or less. I was just saying that if someone was saying they had $60k to spend and could either get a 997.1 or a 997.2, I would tell them to pick the 997.2.
