Does fidelity require out-of-factory-warranty to cars to undergo an inspection prior to instituting the warranty contract?

Replying to myself!
Do you guys recommend 2 years of platinum or 3 years of gold plus?? Anyone have experience with gold plus? I have a garage so I can do some work on my own, but want to be protected against any big repair bills.

From my research, it seemed like exclusionary policy(platinum) or don't bother. I guess you could go with the gold/gold plus if you just want to protect against something catastrophic - but even then whose to say they don't find some loophole...

Yeah I don't have the time or patience to deal with adjusters who want to play with loopholes.. but the price difference is significant. 2 yrs 3k for platinum or 3 yrs 3.3k for gold plus... hmmmm

Anything less than Platinum is a stated component policy where whatever is covered is specified. I've bought one of those policies in the past and swore never to do it again. The adjusters are extremely creative and skilled in coming up with excuses for not covering an item with the stated component policies. Much harder for them to wiggle their way out of an exclusionary policy. Besides it's not just the engine and transmission that's expensive to fix on these cars. I don't know that I ever had a repair bill for less than $1,000 for anything other than an oil change.

I posted the comment below on the previous page of this thread two weeks ago and haven't changed my mind since.

Seriously, the answer is always, 'Do not buy a warranty.'
Because as pure math, done by the insurance companies, as a group, Porsche owners (and other warranty buyers) spend more on the warranties than will be paid out in claims.
Should you buy a warranty comes down to an irrational response, which you want to address, so you can sleep at night.
In that case, buy a warranty... because you don't care about math, odds, etc. In no logical sense does a warranty make sense. it is almost always an illogical thing to do... and we all know this and we buy warranties... and I am looking at one, too.
But don't ask if it makes sense. It doesn't. Should I buy a warranty? Yes, if you're like a lot of other people who deal with this issue emotionally, rather than logically.
Over my life, just in loose calculations, I have saved over 30,000 dollars by always turning down warranties that require me to pay for them. Every gizmo, car, boat, appliance, etc. I am probably conservative at a 30 grand estimate.

I agree with all the gizmo and nuisance warranties that are out there, but for a car that has an overly expensive part to fix (ie PDK) then a warranty might make sense. I applied the same logic to my car, and 1 year in the PDK went and cost $11k. Buying the warranty would have saved me about 50%. Typically warranties DO NOT make sense, but given my experience I would 100% recommend them on a PDK vehicle.

I agree. I usually wouldn’t consider paying for a warranty. I turn down those dealer add ons every time. And will take my chances on all the “little stuff.” It’s the PDK and to a lessor extent, engine that cost massive amounts on these cars that a good deal on a multi year extended warranty starts to seem like a worthy consideration. Although likelihood on them failing is very slim, platinum coverage for 5 years at under $4K may be a reasonable idea.
With his pricing and how expensive these cars are to fix it seems like a no brainer to me. Ive fixed one radiator and sensor saving me 1300 so far - if the other two go in the next 6.5 years, with that alone and I will have broken even.
