Fidelity Platinum Extended Warranty - Recent Prices Here
I know people have weighed in on the +/- of buying an extended warranty.
That's not this thread.
My car comes off factory warranty in a few weeks and I did some research on prices. Prices go up sharply with mileage - kinks at 25k, 35k, and so on (sharply = ~$1,000 off the prices below).
These are the best I've found for my '12 GTS (28k miles):
Fidelity Platinum w/ $250 deductible.
2 yr / 24K - $1929.00
3 yr / 36K - $2677.00
4 yr / 48K - $3603.00
5 yr / 60K - $4220.00
6 yr / 60K - $4313.00
Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield (Mass) and Mossy Motors both came in roughly in this range. The others I've spoken with were 20-30% higher.
YMMV and other caveats, but thought I'd post the data.

Anyone purchase or get a quote on a higher mileage (50k, 60k, 70k) 911?

With 15,000 miles on my 997.2 I purchased the Fidelity Premium warranty, $250 deductible, 6 yr/60,000 miles for $2817.00. There's a lot of room in the pricing of these warranties so check around.

I purchased a warranty through wanted auto protect. My 911 had 80k or so. The warranty covers literally everything except ims bearing failure. 100k or 5 years whatever comes first. It was something like 3800-4200 bucks if I remember correctly, 0 deductible.. They actually just replaced my motor..I would say they've done a good job thus far.

My credit union, who sells a very solid exclusionary policy, would only sell one on a 911 with less than 30k miles, regardless of year.

The F&I rep at the dealer quoted $14,000 for a three year, 36,000 mile warranty when I bought my non-CPO 997. The car was nine years old and had 30,000 miles on it at the time. I didn't buy it. I would consider ~$3000 for a comprehensive warranty to be a great deal.
These warranties have a negative reputation. What has your direct experience been?

I was quoted ~$6800 for a 4 year/48k mile Fidelity warranty on a 2006 C2S with 48000 miles. When I asked if they had any options for longer term (5 year, 6 year), they said they don't sell longer terms for cars this old (10 years +).

Those numbers sound about right from my experience too... That's what makes it a tough decision-- invest $7k conservatively for 4 years/48k and will you come out way ahead? Barring a atypical massive failure, I think the answer is yes. So, like all insurance, you're buying piece of mind more than anything else...

If you know a conservative investment where $7K will earn $3200 in 4 years, I beg you, please share it!!! Because that's how much in repairs my extended warranty has paid over the past 4 years. And I still have 2 years left on it. (I paid $4200 IIRC, for 6 years bumper to bumper).

Considering what these cars cost new, and given the incredibly high repair costs for some of their known failures, these warranties don't seem that expensive. I wonder what a warranty for a used Vantage, Bentley GT, or GTR would run? I think one or more of the following must be true:
1) The insurers resist paying claims ("that's not covered")
2) Expensive repairs (IMSB, bore scoring, etc.) really are statistically infrequent
3) The insurers don't know what they are doing (and won't be around when you need them)

i paid $4300 last yr for 6yr/60k miles $250 ded platinum warranty for 07 997.1TT w under 25kmiles on it-from sunset porsche in oregon- i had no issue with warranty claims from fidelity for few items on previous 02 996C2 (RMS, window reg, key remote, etc)-
one item to be aware of, when you get to 50k miles - their contract excludes coverage for gradual reduction in operating efficiency or some such language- My '07 TT is still low mileage so i probably won't get over 50k b4 warranty expires- Wife 07 BoxsterS- needs upper strut bearings- dealer said Fidelity most likely won't cover this item under their gradual reduction clause, since car has 60k miles.
