FUYAO glass is based in Dayton OH, and its a manufacturing plant. So not American owned but its American made glass. Keeps some of the jobs and money in the states.
Well, kind of. Not to get too political, but the Oscar-winning movie about Fuyao and the Dayton plant ("American Factory") is a must watch if you're into such things.
Took it for a quick drive to confirm I had identified and fixed an annoying rattle in the cabin. Thought it was coming from the front headliner area, but it was actually the little plastic cone for putting out cigarettes in the lighter/ashtray area.
Cup holder door broke (little plastic tab that holds closed). I have an Ultimate Cup Holder and also use the Porsche cup holder when traveling or wife in car - use it enough that I wanted it working. Tried a $180 URO brand from Amazon. Installed OK and looked to be decent quality but there was an unacceptable large gap between top of cup holder trim and dash. Returned it and went OEM, which was $500 including tax and PCA discount from local Porsche dealer. It does fit better.
Decided I was sick of the crap speakers that the PO had installed. Since my doors were apart already I de
on cided to go full bore with a three way set of JL audio stuff. I’ll probably do a bigger two channel JL amp to replace the little digital Ken wood amp I have under the passenger seat. But it is worlds better no than it was, I can listen to music on the highway now lol
I had a soft sounding metal clunk noise and I thought it was a loose top hat on the coilover… it was a loose front hood latch. I fixed the rubber adjustments and the noise is gone… I stumbled on it drying off the hood with a towel at the car wash… lucky find, I was ready to raise it up on the hoist
did you source new trim pieces or just paint what you already had?
New trim. I never paint what I have. It was surprisingly inexpensive and also surprisingly available given that the seats are not. Something like $120/$130 or so iirc for all 4 pieces.
The old supports barely worked and wouldnt keep the hood up if there was a breeze.
I accidentally bought two sets of these. [SOLD] I'll past them on for free if you cover shipping. DM me if you want them.

I had my dealer order them at first but they canceled the order when one of the parts wasn’t available without telling me. Then I ordered through them again and when the parts arrived the price was higher than the original quote.
By the time the dealer has them others were showing in stock so I ordered from ESC (looking at the receipt now, it was $160 from ESC whereas dealer wanted around $240).
