@Ailerons from your console I think you have a 7.2. I also do and want a 992 wheel so bad. Did you do the swap? Was it easy or hard? Where did you source?
I finished up changing my starter motor and starter/alternator cable today. Wow, everything on this car fights you…. I thought getting the plastic clips from the cable off would be the worst part but getting the alternator back in place ended up taking the longest! All in, the job took me about 5 hours. She turns over so quickly now!
You ain't kidding, I'm in the same boat!! Putting a new starter, new cable, new Air/Oil separator, new belt and a GT3 throttle body swap in while it's all apart!! Hope I can remember how to get it back together again!

Ha! That’s too funny! I couldn’t get the alternator around the bolt channel on the idler pulley side. Turns out the bushing on the back mount of the alternator moves, so I soaked it in PB blaster, reinserted the bolt and smacked the bolt with a hammer to push the bushing back, then the alternator slid into place.
Did you guys lower the engine to do this? Gives you a couple inched of much needed room.
I didn't, vertical height doesn't seem to be the issue, it's just everything is stuffed inside, small hands would definitely be a plus. I did crawl under to see if I could reach that bottom starter bolt but that was a no, still trying to figure out how to get it back in without it falling off into the pit of darkness!

I do and am doing this job this weekend. Mine is more complicated because I first have to remove all the supercharger stuff. Definitely helps to support the more from the edge of the engine carrier and spin the motor mount nuts down close to the bottom without weight on them, where you know you have some thread left, then lower the engine cradle back onto the nuts. In my case I need more space decaue of the supercharger so I actually unthread them all the way and lower the rear of the engine as far as I can until it won't angle.any more.
