Today I received my Durametric scanner and ran my first engine report. I was super nervous to see the results of the over-revs, but from what I've read this isn't that bad 😬

Not too bad, but she was run pretty hard for about 11 hours since the Range 4 overrevs were recorded in a different event than the Range 3s, and different yet again from the Range 1s & 2s. The range 1s and 2s were part of the same event which is why they have the same hour stamp on them of 1090.3 hours - the Range 3s were about 2 hours prior to that and the Range 4s 11 hours prior to the Range 3s.

It's usually a good idea to pull the DME report before buying the car, not after, but since the last one was 50 hours or so ago, you're probably OK.

Totally. I naively bought the car without running the report 2 years ago. So, the good news is they probably didn't exist before I bought it; the bad news is those over revs were me

Yes, most likely they were. If you divide the total hours by the 10 years old your car is, it looks like it's averaging about 114 hours of use per year so if you drive it an average amount, then the last 225 hours or so of the history would be with you. This means that the other good news is that if they were from you, the car should have been warmed up properly when they occurred, so at least they didn't happen on a cold engine with oil that wasn't warmed up and circulating well.

You can also take the odometer reading and divide it by the total operating hours to see what the average speed of the car has been. Usually it's in the 30-40 mph range - lower probably means more shorter distance and city or traffic driving and higher, more highway trips probably of longer average distance, but this will obviously be an average.

Three weeks later and I finally got back my engine cover and new bumper from the paint shop. I didn't feel my current bumper could be corrected so I purchased a new one. It has been resprayed before and was an awful job. The engine cover was messed up when someone debadged it.

There are plenty of body shops in Charlotte but I take it 80 miles away to someone I trust. It came out beautifully. The spoiler though isn't closing correctly and I'll probably be asking questions how to adjust it. Put it on the car tomorrow.

I respect an owner who will do something a little rad to make their car their own. Well done.
