Preparing my 997.1 for a club car show. Today I did the exhaust tips using California Custom Purple metal polish with steel wool.
The dremel came in handy to remove baked on carbon deposits, most of which came off, although I can see a few more in the magnified image. The RHS tip went back on easy enough, but getting the LHS on involved some foul language, even after cleaning up the exhaust stubs and using some anti seize. Next job: clean the wheel arches.
Did leatherique for the interior. Much easier than I had expected to do, even though my car has entire herd's worth of leather in it. Not sure how big of a difference it made but this is probablhy the first and only time the leather has ever been conditioned or cleaned.
Exterior needs a wash so maybe pictures after that.
replaced my stone guards. the detailers removed it, without asking permission, while installing the glass coating. i just got those bulk 3m stone guards and cut out the stone guard for the porsche. exact same thing $20 for 3 pieces.
I'm so tempted to park it at the airport, for that very reason, but just can't pull the trigger. Safe travels...T
Thanks! Yes I also just cannot bear the thought of leaving the car there. It would be so sweet to land and go drive it right from the airport but I think I'd have some heartburn or something with it in an airport lot of all places
So this is funny... Had the 997 for a little over a year now, and my mother (late 60s) had never been in it until today. So we take a little top-down ride today to run some errands, and I'm motoring down this 2 mile long straight near my house at a good 15mph over the 45 limit, talking to my mom who has this perpetual "slow down son!" look on her face, and so of course I don't notice the NJ police SUV pass me going the other direction. He, of course, noticed me -- my car is pretty loud (Fister + Sharkwerks) and I'm flying past him. Honest to god, I didn't realize I was going that fast -- I'm just conditioned to drive these cars like they are meant to be driven... Welp, he promptly turns around and comes up right behind me -- by which time I had noticed of course and slowed to the limit... Rode my bumper for about a mile, then peeled off. Whew... Exciting first 10 minutes in the car for mom...
Got lucky... Thank you for the pass, ticket gods, I'll try not to abuse it.
