What did you do to your 997 today?

Finally installed my turbo rear deck/wing!
I've been gathering/acquiring the components for the install over the last 4 months, trying to keep the project on a budget. I opted for a fixed wing in order to save some weight, remove some complexity and not have to modify the airbox/intake. I had custom pieces CNC/water jetted out of aluminum for the wing risers and support plates....that part was probably the most fun!
I'm only missing the rear emblem, but will probably go with "Carrera" in gloss black. Next item is the turbo front bumper.

It's what I didn't do with my 997.
An acquaintance is gong to be out of state for a few months and asked me to drive her 1986 Carrera every couple of weeks or so. I did my first stint today.
Holy Cow! the difference between an 3.2 l air-cooled 911 and a 997.2 is light years. Literally, the only thing that was better on the '86 was the exhaust sound at idle. I loved my 911SC, but now realize how much Porsche has improved the brand.
I could go on and on about the differences. The neat thing is that I appreciate my 997 much more. I'll continue to go old school every couple of weeks, but anticipate looking forward to getting back in the 997 after each drive in the '86

Well, not today, but this past weekend...drove her to social event with the Rocky Mountain region PCA and Rennstall in Greeley CO. Very cool shop and a nice turn out of cars...maybe close to 100 in total. Mine is the black 997.

Nice. It's funny to see people stare when you pop the frunk and start piling in your stuff. I like Costco runs in the 911, but not the grocery store. Wide parking spaces and big lots at Costco means no door dings! Not so much at grocery store

For first time really got into it today. There is an elevated, usually low traffic section of highway I would on occasion use to "clean out" and test cars on. The Cayman S was quick, the BMW 335i was surprisingly so also. The 997 got to illegal faster than I expected. ( no intent so lucky for me no infraction, right?)
I have another very remote, untraveled three lane service road that can't be observed I'll use if should try that again. Darn near scared myself !
